Martin Preston lost an arm in a car crash, and foolishly accepted help from Mephisto. Believing the Devil had ripped his soul into five pieces and scattered them, Preston took his new supernatural power on a Quixotic quest to restore his humanity. Frequently confronting the West Coast Avengers, Pandemonium gave us the horrific image of him fusing Wanda and Vision's sons to his body, believing them to be two of his five soul fragments. The Devil lied (as he always does) and the five soul shards were actually pieces of Mephisto's own lost essence. His quest for redemption was a lie, and so Master Pandemonium has resigned himself to villainy ever since.
