Decades before becoming one of Marvel’s most prominent LGBTQIA+ characters, Heather Douglas debuted in the pages of Iron Man as an evil geneticist. A convoluted backstory, a familial revelation, a stint in the Avengers and a reputation among male heroes for being a manipulative seductress soon completed the picture. And the rest is history: murdering her father, Drax, and paying for her hubris by serving in the Defenders; being destroyed by the corruptive Dragon of the Moon; coming back to life and being recruited into Adam Warlock’s Infinity Watch; and finally turning into one of Marvel’s most recognizable queer heroes as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, next to her beloved Phyla-Vell. Wow. Iknew Moondragon was a weird character. I didn't quite realise just how weird she really was, or how briefly she was a member of the Avengers.
