When Alpha Flight relaunched in 1997, three years following the cancellation of the long-running original series, the book contained a team with half the cast made up of brand new characters. These characters proved fairly unpopular with longtime Alpha Flight fans, who lamented the lack of former cast members. Following the cancellation of the second Alpha Flight series, only one of those new characters went on to appear in any significant (or... insignificant?) capacity, as a member of the short-lived paramilitary team called X-Corps.
