UPDATE On...LOCUS!

You have no idea how bummed she was when she went to the future and discovered that CDs had become obsolete by the turn of the century. Never mind! Next time you see her, she will be almost a completely different person! And then, revert her back to her Valley Girl appearance and be murdered! Also, she speaks Sh'iar, and knows what James Proudstar will call himself in the future. Was she originally supposed to be a resurrected Illyana Rasputin? Shhhhh! Don't mention that theory! But now, From the Ashes, she has returned... will any of the mysteries surrounding this peculiar character ever be answered? Who knows! As a child during her biggest appearances, i have never heard the theory that Locus was possibly Illyana. How did such an idea spring up? Was it due to the blonde wig?

Well, it wasn't a wig then, or rather, it wasn't clear. In her first appearances she had long blonde hair and caucasian skin, then her skin tone was suddenly darker, and when she appeared again a few years later she was shown without her mask and headpiece for the first time, and suddenly had dark hair.

But, during Locus' initial apperance in X-Force #27-28, the following things came together:
- X-Force was the follow-up title to New Mutants
- X-Force Annual #1 showed us the Shattershot future, in which there was an adult Illyana, fully in control of her mutant and magical powers without any visible struggle with a demonic side
- The MLF had had a teleporter before (Zero), so why did Marvel suddenly add a different teleporter that happened to look very similar to that adult Illyana (well both were tall, caucacsian woman with long lightblonde hair)
- Both Illyana and Locus are no ordinary teleporters (like Nightcrawler, for instance), but they are both capable of long-distance teleportation, of traveling through space and time, and of taking others along with them without being in physical contact
- The MLF had a history of including former New Mutants to their ranks: Rusty and Skids (both brainwashed) and Moonstar (initally assumed to have switched sides, later revealed as a spy for SHIELD)

Thank you Lavettye I can see how the theories could run rampant. I always remembered her as dark skinned in the comics I vaguely read at 4.
