In a new twist on an old tale, the Age of Krakoa confirmed that Mordred Pendragon was "witchbreed", a mutant whose unnatural power stirred the animosity of others. Sir Mordred was destined to bring about the fall of Camelot. Still, it is hard to condemn his grudge towards righteous King Arthur, who refused to acknowledge his son and tried to murder him as an infant. The restless spirit of Mordred has returned throughout the centuries to conspire against the scions of Arthur, Merlin, and the Black Knight. Recently, his resurrection through a Krakoan egg led to a younger, purer incarnation of the knight. This Mordred broke the cycle of hatred by forgiving his father, perhaps finally rewriting a tale as old as time.
