Always willing to do what needs doing, Pete Wisdom was a patriot who spent years performing black ops work for Great Britain. When the nation of Krakoa welcomed all mutants, Wisdom served as liaison to the new mutant Captain Britain, but never once waivered in his devotion to Queen and Country. So consider his betrayal when allies of the British government murdered him and severed all ties with the mutant nation and their Krakoan gates. Pete woke up in an egg, a de facto citizen of Krakoa, and an expatriate denied re-entry to his own home. His new S.T.R.I.K.E. team was Wisdom's attempt at making sense of his new status, and it remains to be seen whether Wisdom will ever fully renew his ties with the country that abandoned him.
