Welcome to our Krakoa Month and retrospective! After a year's worth of build-up with our All-New, All-Different X-Men updates, it's only fair to end with the BIGGEST mutant introduced in Giant-Size X-Men #1. This month will touch upon several themes related to the Age of Krakoa, beginning with the living island itself. This major re-write to Krakoa's Spotlight incorporates its complicated new origin as (*inhales*) half of the evolved form of a time-traveling mutant's soul and genetic material reincarnated from the destruction of Genosha! (Checks notes...right?)

KRAKOA MONTH! SPOTLIGHT UPDATE!!

Re: KRAKOA MONTH! SPOTLIGHT UPDATE!!
Reading this was a lot of fun. I dropped out of the Krakoa era about 1 year in, so I missed most of this. But Hickman has a real talent for imaginative histories, and this whole epic saga has a really unique flavor.
It makes me wish Marvel would do a trilogy of films separate from the MCU based on the Krakoa era. The first opens with the ancient split of Krakoa and Arrako, then moves to the modern day where Krakoan society is fully established, and the conflict arises when Arrako reappears. The sequel is the story from Marauders creating the time loop origin. The final film reveals Moira’s Powers of X and results in the fall of Krakoa and shifts the timeline to merge with the MCU.

Wow, that's an insanely convoluted retcon to justify Hickman blatantly ignoring basic Krakoa canon.

Only part of that is Hickman’s retcon. And that part still rocks!
Everything about the Grove and paradox is pure Steve Orlando…

From The Ashes Books I like: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Exceptional X-Men, X-Force, Dazzler, and NYX…so far, so good.

It's crazy that Hickman made an obvious continuity error a major part of his tenure without a retcon to back it up. It shouldn't have been Orlando's responsibility to fix afterwards.

I think your dislike of Hickman's stuff is confusing things. Orlando didn't fix anything though, the Grove situation didn't "fix" anything.
Hickman made a retcon. Hickman changed the history of Krakoa (which had already been changed before in other retcons) and explained away some of those previous retcons. Orlando then expanded on that retcon while also adding in his 2099 ideas and then incorporating the Genosha situation to create a paradox.
