Villain Team entry...FEMME FATALES

Post by Monolith »

This obscure team of female mutant super-villains occasionally caused trouble for Spider-Man and Captain America. More cameo fodder than an actual threat, the Femme Fatales often filled out massive group gatherings of super-villains rather than driving any stories themselves. More recently, however, they had the chance to grapple with the X-Men alongside Viper during the Hunt for Wolverine. Perhaps this opportunity and the Krakoan era will give them the chance to shine in the future.

I have been curious about Leann Foreman’s status. The natural assumption is that she has the x-gene. Why else join a mutant team? But my first encounter with the character was in Ostrander’s Heroes for Hire comic #4. As Whiplash, she took part in some sort of mercenary attack alongside Orka, Shockwave, and Killer Shrike iirc. I only mention it because it brought her in opposition to the Heroes for Hire and their new member, White Tiger. Whiplash freaks out when White Tiger transforms into her animal form. Leann uses the derogatory term “mutie” to refer to White Tiger. So it surprised me that she was categorized as a mutant. I wish that they’d nail down her powers. There are a good number of whip using villainesses. And she’s already stepping on Coachwhip’s toes with the name change. Good article.

On a side note, I would love a meet up between Knockout, Frenzy, and Punchout.
