I love these! I'm enough of an X-Head that there isn't much in many of the X-Spotlights that's new info to me. But these Avengers ones are wholly different, since I really didn't start reading them regularly until the Bendis era.

honestly, considering myself more an Avengers fan than an X-fan these days, I can't say how cool I find all of this, Under Siege is right on top of my list of stories I really should have read, but haven't

All new information for me, too. I’m actually a little surprised how much Avengers canon I don’t know.

I’m also always surprised how much story they used to pack into comics. One or two issue arcs that have iconic status and that seeded whole legends within a franchise today would be 12-issue arcs.

A minor technical suggestion: It would be nice if each Masters page had a link at the bottom to the next. I know they’re kind of independent entities, but I do think some readers (like me) would want to follow the evolution of the concept from one iteration to the next.

Yeah, old school comics were much more exposition heavy, almost to the point that they were illustrated stories. Modern artists tell a much larger percentage of the overall story. Reading an old issue of 60s X-Men took four or five times as long as modern comics.

Under Siege is the one of most brutal and emotional Avengers stories that I've ever read. John Buscema and Tom Palmer delivered amazing art throughout that captured the emotional pain and pyrrhic victory. Part of the fun of Stern's run was how he continually moved on his various sub-plots, a number of which culminated here in this arc. (Wasp really came into her own as a true leader here).

In a time before heightened violence became more prevalent in comics, what happened to Jarvis was truly unnerving and terrifying. At the time, you really didn't know who may have survived or who all would bear deep scars from this event.

Under Siege is a story I've heard a lot about but never actually picked up. I think the MoE IV article convinced me I can't leave it alone and need to get this.
