With the Great Lakes Avengers as an opening number, this April we're presenting an Avengers theme all month long, with releases highlighting the West Coast Avengers! Our first release shines the Spotlight on one of the founding members of that franchise.
Barbara Morse went through several incarnations in her early years. From fragile psychic, to liberated S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, to one-off super-hero in a B&W magazine. She settled in to a permanent identity as Mockingbird, and soon after found love with the Avenger named Hawkeye. A spy and loner at heart, Bobbi conceded to Hawk's wishes and became part of the larger Avengers organization, helping found the West Coast branch and serving for several years. However, Mockingbird was kidnapped by the Skrulls for their infiltration, and her doppelganger died shortly after. Returning "from the dead" years later, Bobbi moved on from Hawkeye and has established herself independently in the hero and espionage communities. Presently active with Force Works, G.I.R.L., the Agents of Wakanda, and the Daughters of Liberty, Mockingbird has obviously reconsidered her lone wolf mentality and embraced the value of teamwork.
