Unlike the creator of the Sentinels, Bolivar Trask, the man who followed in his footsteps truly loved to hate mutants and plan their destruction. Steven Lang coopted the Sentinel designs and, after his initial plan with them led to his apparent death, he had a habit of reappearing as a machine/human hybrid. First there was the Master Mold unit that thought he was Lang, then the real Lang became the figurehead of the techno-organic Phalanx, until finally he was resurrected by Bastion to be part of his Human Council. While Steven was willing to go to almost any length to exterminate the mutant threat, he did have a line he was unwilling to cross which involved taking humanity down in the process. Perhaps this means he is not irredeemable, but truly the man is easy to hate. Read about the several machine-human cross-linking events in the life of Steven Lang.
