X-MEN 2099 Hero Team entry

Post by Monolith »

The X-Men of tomorrow from a year that gets closer all the time, today's Team Entry focuses on the futuristic world of X-Men 2099. In a world ruled by corporations where citizens are commodities, the X-Men remained the defenders of mutant rights and equality. Starting out as nomads searching for the lost generation of mutants, the X-Men transformed into the Protectorate of Halo City, an early mutant homeland in Doom's America. After the original 2099 universe ended, variant after variant popped up for decades until the Spider-Man 2099: Exodus limited series seemingly picked up the timeline from where 2099: World of Tomorrow stopped. Time will tell if this latest version of X-Men 2099 will stick around, but for now mutant is still a four-letter word (fortunately, so is X-Men).

So has it been essentially confirmed that the world of Spider-Man 2099: Exodus is the true future of the 616?

No. There is no such thing as a "true future" of any timeline, because the future is not yet fixed. The current Earth-2099 events are, at best, a possible future which has not yet been ruled out by divergent events.

At best, the idea is that that there will always be a 2099 and so it shifts and changes to fit any changes to the present.

So the current iteration of 2099 is now the “true” future of the MU until it changes further.
From The Ashes Books I like: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Exceptional X-Men, X-Force, Dazzler, and NYX…so far, so good.

I wonder what will happen when it's actually the year 2099.

It’ll be too hot to read comics.

Probably something like what happened with Iron Man 2020.

Arno Stark was introduced in 1984 as Tony's great-nephew from 40ish years in the future. By the time 2020 rolled around, Arno Stark was now Tony's long-lost brother.
