Random's was a cipher at first, an ambivalent mercenary in it for the money. His facade cracked, revealing a teenaged boy using his powers to appear more menacing on the outside. The debts he owed to the insidious Dark Beast forced him to betray X-Factor before they could fully accept him, and he worked as an "evil mutant" for several years after that. Although he would work with the X-Men and their allies at times, he still remained a "random element" until Krakoa. As part of S.W.O.R.D., Random has joined the Indigo branch as a security sub-director. With both the money and a righteous cause, perhaps Random won't stray from his allies again.
