ACADEMY X MONTH! ROCKSLIDE SPOTLIGHT

It's Academy X Month here on UXN! Join us on this extra long Feburary as we spotlight some of the X-Men's youngest members both big and small. Starting off the event is the much missed Rockslide. Santo started as a background character, then became a stock, muscled bully, and finally a fan favorite character with dialogue seemingly unfiltered by tact. While acting as the big, funny guy and gaining traction in the early to late 2000s on multiple young mutant teams, Rockslide orbited but never quite graduated to the X-Men big leagues. Experiencing a decent character arc in lamenting being the invulnerable guy that kept failing to protect his friends from death, his personality devolved into mostly cameo appearances where he would show up to make a joke or get in a short tussle.

Eventually, Rockslide was the character chosen to demonstrate the new threat replacing death for mutant-kind in the X of Swords crossover. He was brought back from death in the magical Otherworld “wrong” despite seeming very similar to his former self. Now christened Wrongslide, the comics indicate that he is a wholly separate character but he has been included in the spotlight of the original Rockslide. My geeky little heart thumps with joy!!!! New Xmen was my reintroduction into the comics and I loved each and everyone of these misfits.
