MOIRA X -- 400th CHARACTER ARTICLE!

Post by Monolith »

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, UXN! This year, for uncannyxmen.net's anniversary and our 400th Character Article, we present the many lives of Moira MacTaggert. Originally presented as Charles Xavier's first love and the X-Men's most prominent human ally, Doctor MacTaggert played a central role in major story arcs like Proteus, the Shadow King, and the Legacy Virus. Her death in the Dream's End crossover appropriately brought an end to an era of the X-Men having close human allies.

Nearly 20 years later, Moira resurfaced with the shocking revelation that she had been a mutant all along, and the X-Titles are still reeling from the aftershocks of this fact. A mutant stuck in a perpetual temporal loop, living her life over and over, Moira X had been an ally of Xavier, Magneto, and Apocalypse independently in her different incarnations. Krakoa was her dream of all mutants working together for self-preservation against fearful humans and the machine supremacy to come. Still, Moira doubted her own convictions and, when cracks appeared in mutant unity, she was driven from Krakoa and sided with the mutants' greatest enemies in Orchis. Now a machine-encoded consciousness herself, Moira X has abandoned mutantkind and holds an eternal grudge against her former allies who betrayed her.

Fantastic read. Moira has been the most prominently missing character from the site ever since Wolverine was released in my opinion. The fact that her importance skyrocketed so much and that her entire backstory was affected, makes her a very worthy character to be UXN's #400. I remember #300 being Krakoa and thinking at the time (2018) that it may not be worthy of that milestone, but very clearly Krakoa and Moira are pivotal to the X-men mythos forever more.
Books to be excited for:
Immortal X-men, X-men Red, She-Hulk, The Fall of X

Reading this spotlight, I do realize how actually alot of Moira, Xavier, Magneto and even at times Apoccy and Sinister’s actions can make sense even with the Moira X revelation.
From The Ashes Books I like: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Exceptional X-Men, X-Force, Dazzler, and NYX…so far, so good.
