Spotlight on... REAPER!
Reaper, like so many other mutants of his generation, was born in Rob Liefeld's sketchbook of character ideas that might look cool somewhere. Because Rob didn't get his Teen Titans book at DC, and before he moved on to Youngblood at Image, Reaper emerged as one of the Mutant Liberation Front, a collection of antagonists for the New Mutants as Liefeld and Louise Simonson took the reins on that book. Reaper experienced a bizarre jump in notoriety when Marvel bought out Malibu Comics' Ultraverse and sought to merge their properties. Reaper of the MLF and Siena Blaze of the Upstarts joined Juggernaut as the Marvel half of the Ultraverse's All New Exiles, turning relatively minor X-Men villains into stars of their own title. Reaper eventually returned to the Marvel Universe, but his profile has never risen so high again.

The highest profile member of the deaded MILF until Tempo's much-deserved resurgence (though neither have approached the status of the memequeen herself Dragoness). I totally remember reading that Exiles book -- so 90s bad/good.

The Vital Statistics page is the only one showing up for me. There are no links to the others, or "Next Page" option.

What is his ethnicity?
His real name is very unique and i never heard of it in any language before.

That might be a thread not worth pulling. There are a few instances of characters with “ethnic” sounding names that don’t actually exist. If I recall, Shapandar isn’t a real name, with reference to Omega Sentinel. A quick google search of just Reaper’s surname only brings up references to him and no real life social media profiles. Maybe there is someone out there with the surname Hurageb, but it’s probably a rare one.

I have a lot of Desi friends and I can tell Shapandar is an Indian name just by the spelling and pronunciation of it.Gremlin wrote: 14 Nov 2021, 08:21 That might be a thread not worth pulling. I think that's the issue, though. You can get into some sticky issues with names like that that "sound" like they're from a region, but there's no real people with that name to support it.ultimatekey wrote: 15 Nov 2021, 06:45I have a lot of Desi friends and I can tell Shapandar is an Indian name just by the spelling and pronunciation of it.Gremlin wrote: 14 Nov 2021, 08:21 That might be a thread not worth pulling. Re: Spotlight on... REAPER!
Pantu as a first name seems to appear in Mexico often enough that it may be from there, but there are also sightings of it in the Balkan region. It may have traveled across the ocean via Catholicism since it's a term used in Catholic religion that means a type of spirit. There are a few names similar to Hurageb and they mostly stem from Hungary.
If I had to hazard a guess, Pantu Hurageb is either Romanian or Hungarian with a Catholic background.

I assumed he was East Asian or possibly middle eastern, tbh. Hurageb sounds like a fictional arabic name. And that's just the visual vibe I got from him when he appeared in Exiles without his face paint. The MLF was full of seemingly diverse characters (don't ask me to explain Dragoness). The scythe seems like an odd choice for a weapon. I wonder if it ties into his origins.

Hmm I would think it would almost be better to have a name that belongs to no real individual. That way no one can complain it's defaming them or stealing their identity. If you can create a name convincing enough like Shapandar (which until this thread I had no idea it wasn't a real name) I say go for it.sambadaemon wrote: 15 Nov 2021, 22:09I think that's the issue, though.
