Fantomex is one of several breakout characters from Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men. A complicated man, Fantomex's origins helped introduce the idea that Wolverine's Weapon X was Weapon TEN of the ongoing Weapon Plus Program. Fantomex was created by Weapon Plus to project a certain public image while also hunting mutants as a Super-Sentinel. His story has been an ongoing effort to overcome his programming and live according to his own drives. He faced numerous complications along the way, such as his three brains being separated into individual cloned bodies or inhabiting the astral plane as a ghost while Charles Xavier co-opted his body. His recent return came with new elements for his origin that make this mystery man even more of an enigma than ever before.
