Profile on... BLOKE!

Post by Douglas Mangum »

When nearly the entire X-Force team was eliminated on a mission, a new and more popular crop of mutants took their place. One of them was Bloke, an openly gay man forced to deal with homophobia on top of anti-mutant sentiment. When he proved to be more of a hero than most of the rest of his fame and fortune hungry teammates, he paid the ultimate price. His tenure may have been brief, but his influence inspired his teammates to be more heroic and accepting of themselves.

So, I just reread all of X-Force/X-Statix because of this article. And while Bloke is only a tiny piece of it, the whole run is something special. Thanks for the reminder.

Wow! A real speed reader.

This was my first attempt at a character article so I went with an easy character with a short history. Glad you liked it. I'll be tackling a few bigger characters soon.

Also, thank you Douglas for the help and image work.
Books to be excited for:
Immortal X-men, X-men Red, She-Hulk, The Fall of X

Yeah, it was pretty cool because I definitely don't remember much of the middle of the X-Statix run, so it was a treat to get to know everyone again. And almost 20 years older, my viewpoint on them has shifted and I truly appreciate the series more now.
