The Great Lakes Avengers are a joke. ...Oh? What? You need more? Okay... they are often a funny joke. An unofficial and unauthorized Midwest franchise team of the Avengers, the GLA emerged during the East Coast / West Coast era of the Avengers. Five heroes with weird powers and a genuine desire to serve, they failed to find much crime to fight in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They flirted with authenticity when Hawkeye and Mockingbird started training them and were responsible for re-introducing Squirrel Girl to comics after a fourteen year hiatus. Still, these also-rans and never-weres just can't catch a break, and mostly end up playing cards and wondering if they'll ever really make it as super-heroes. So, what better way to celebrate April Fools' Day than with these...fine heroes.

GLA / GLX
Why not contribute to one of our sites? The pay is non existent, but vacation allowance is fantastic!
Re: GLA / GLX
I feel very sad that this team isn’t included in any events or crossovers. (I don’t count the Initiative now).
Especially in modern times, with all the hate against LGBTQ people, the body shaming, racial conflicts, etc. they should be much more present.
Thanks for that respectfully article.

Decided not to try to pull one over on us this year, eh? I remember being fooled by Wolverine Event Month and the Premium Service launch. I also remember rolling my eyes at Darkhawk.net and GOT.net.Dean Clayton wrote: 01 Apr 2020, 08:01 https://mightyavengers.net/groups/great-lakes-avengers

Or are we luring you into a false sense of security?

We've still been doing April Fools' gags, Nu-D. They're just chronicled in the Year in Review articles now. You may recall last year when we made that ridiculous claim we were starting an Avengers site.

Re: GLA / GLX
These guys are so much fun. I think I've read all of their appearances except the GLA mini so I'll have to track it down. Therefore I never caught onto the recurring Grasshopper death jokes.
I wish the last series lasted longer and hope they pop up again soon. I learned from this article that the word Fursona is a thing. Are characters like Wolfsbane going to have their powers reclassified as such? Is Shark Girl a Scalesona? Gillsona?
Lastly, I still can't find certain articles in MAN. There is no Heroes team tab that I have found unless it's just not accessible through my mobile phone.
