Forgive my naivety but what’s Crucible? Are they sacrificing Jubilee to Krakoa in some cultish ceremony?

Crucible was that guy on Genosha in Fantastic Four ... something. After Heroes Reborn. A scientist.

We know that the X-Men visit Genosha in a few month.

Complete guess: it's some sort of obstacle course/graduation test for new X-Men. Done once a year and so it's treated like a sporting event.

Though I will be a mite disappointed if it's not Gremlin's theory.

I would die if it's just a production of The Crucible starring the X-teens.

And what if it’s played like straight and serious? Lol no battles or secret plots.

Just X-characters dressed like parents going to see a high school production of The Crucible...with Emma Frost and Nightcrawler as the director and producer of the play lol...

Who's John Proctor? Anole? It'd be hilarious to have like Rockslide be the lead.

Pixie as Elizabeth Proctor
Triage as Reverend Samuel Parris
Gentle as Reverend John Hale
The Cuckoos as Thomas Putnam
Cipher as Mary Warren
Mercury as Tituba
Surge as Mercy Lewis
Shark Girl as Betty Parris
Husk as Ann Putnam
Jubilee as Ruth Putnam
Wind Dancer as Rebecca Nurse

The Crucible is a play set during the Salem Witch Trials and mostly highlights how it was more of a political/power grab than it was an actual religious event. A lot of "this woman is a witch!" when the accuser only speaks because "the witch" is married to the wrong person. Similarly with land grabs and such.

Every time I look at that teaser I giggle a little because Scott looks so damn ridiculous.

Enlarge the first panel's word bubble to put more text in there. Change it to "So... Exodus is sleeping with Amelia Vought" and change the second panel to "And that's the tea."

It's just such silly framing that lends itself to meme.

I think I might have been thinking of that random South Park episode where they sacrifice someone each day in their “Carosel” celebration.

Regardless, I think we are looking at some sort of competition/death match/ultimate fight scenario.

It's actually less about the real life Salem Witch Trials and more about McCarthyism. McCarthy was a US Senator who started accusing various celebrities, artists, politicians, etc. of being communists who were working against the country. He got a bunch of people fired and blacklisted from working. Almost everyone he investigated was falsely accused. The play uses the Salem Witch Trials as an allegory.

This is my first guess as well. Maybe something fostered by Apocalypse so that Krakoans can still determine the strong among them (even if the weak keep getting resurrected).

It could have something to do with one of the locations we haven't visited yet. This title seems to be showing us a lot of locations that were first mentioned (but not shown) in HOX. Almost a new location per issue. #1 was Summer house (moon habitat), #2 was Arakko, #3 was the Harvest center (Savage Land Habitat) and briefly the Outback habitat and #6 Sentinel city (Orchis base in Mercury) and the Oracle.

Maybe it's the Danger island? Alternatively, it could have something to do with that volcano located in Arakko. Crucible can either mean a harsh trial or a receptacle where substances can be melted. Both work.

If you get a chance to watch it, there's a movie version from the 90s with Wynona Ryder. It's not bad, check it out if you see it streaming somewhere.

Careful on Facebook. If they know you like comics, you might run into a Bleeding Cool ad that might spoil what X-Men #7 is about!
