The Fury of Phantazia!

Post by Dean Clayton »

https://uncannyxmen.net/characters/phantazia
One of the most interesting mutants to debut in the early 90s, this mysterious woman made a brief and unfortunately short lived impact as a member of the Toad's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before becoming a footnote in the X-Men's history. Read now the history and learn what could have been, of the mutant Phantazia!

She was terribly underutilized.

When I first saw Phantazia, I was super confused about her. I mean, I recognized the rest of the Brotherhood pretty easily, but who was this woman? What did she do? Where did she come from?

Nice to know that my confusion was pretty justified.

I love that by the '90s they pretty much ran out of "regular" super-powers but this was pre-2000s where pseudo-creativity crept back in. Instead, it seemed like every new bad person had some power that paralyzed people OR had some new form of concussive blast.
From The Ashes Books I like: X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Exceptional X-Men, X-Force, Dazzler, and NYX…so far, so good.

Either that or the character would have a laundry list of things they could do like it was an RP profile from a 2002 roleplay chatroom.

Here I thought the stock 90s powers were "claws and guns"

Claws were always a plus power and guns were big outside the X-world...but you look at mutants from the 90s and alot of baddies har a ton of powers

I actually thought guns and pouches were everyone's powers in the 90's. :D

I just love that a female character with only a handful of appearances still ended up in a bikini. 90s comic books people.

what i thought was hilarious was that in the x-men timegliders series, the artist must have got confused about how she was always wearing a cloak because the way the character has been drawn was if she has no arms!

Honest to God, there were a few times - when I was a kid - when I would have thought the same. Or at least no body underneath her neck.
