Of course , we do these little easter eggs all the time but not many people spot them.

So, a bit of backstory -- about a year ago I finally acquired one of my "Holy Grail"s, a full run of Sub-Mariner from the 60's and 70's. Before starting, I decided to re-read the Essential Sub-Mariner for the Tales to Astonish comics, leading into it. Then I realized what I was starting and said, "You idiot! Take notes!" It also pushed me into buying the Golden Age Marvel Masterworks to review the original stories as well. Namor's history has Wolverine-level complications when it comes to the retconing and modernizing of the Timely and Atlas Comics era. (Rule of thumb, the more gray notes I have to write, the more I love it!)

Another fun anecdote is that the Namor Spotlight was so big, it actually crashed the site! A failsafe in the coding causes the page to cancel out if loading takes to long, and that happened with the Bio text. Dean Clayton had to separate it into two different Bio entries just to get it loaded onto the site properly. (Presumably, this didn't happen for Wolverine because we were always planning on releasing that Spotlight in multiple parts.)

Praise must be given to Douglas Mangum, who edited this ridiculous thing for me, and Dean Clayton, who accomplished all the image work on his own and is now in a coma, we think.

monolith deserves a lot of credit for this but I agree Douglas not only edited but also made sure the relevant cover scans were uploaded and on the site. It's one of those jobs that no one notices gets done but is always noticed when not done.

And yeah I've seen way too many abs and ponytails over the last month

Thanks so much for doing a spotlight on such an underrated Marvel legend, it makes me really sad Namor doesn't get a fraction of the respect he deserves. He's older than freakin' Batman and that chump has his own holiday.

Honestly I never thought we would get around to doing Namor but Monolith achieved the impossible. Wolverine was a massive task but dealing with 75 years worth of Namor's retcons is something else. Then Dean had to image that thing up. I guess many of you don't quite know the chore of doing the image work but Namor was a Herculean task in itself. Lots of kudos all round.

You know I was having that discussion with Gomurr about Cassandra Nova and how he regarded her as a little too other but I said I love the comic booky (really scifi) nature of her. And you know what? Those early Namor adventures just got me super intrigued in his adventures because they are hella comic booky and scifi...just utter ridiculousness with the amount of amnesia, dumb names amd strange events. I am so here for it! So thaks everything for introducing me to MORE awesome stuff

Totally agreed! Reading through those early biography pages reminded me of why I love comic so much. That mix of soap opera with sci-fi insanity is just perfection.
