Cable #5

Post by Blackcyclops » 14 Oct 2020, 13:51

I’m more interested in what the hell Cyclops and Magik might be referring to!!! Damn Cyclops and his plans!

I do think the data pages and the enemy will be important to the future series coming out of this event. Anybody else agree?

I do love a plot seed or three. I also love a good space station horror mystery. Carol's going to be devastated, though.

Cyclops and Magik probably already have a backup plan ready to win the tournament or when losing still win.

And yeah, this story probably the setup for the new SWORD series with Cable on the roster.

This one definitely felt like the weakest of the three chapters this week. As others surmise, it's probably a setup of sorts for the upcoming SWORD book, but in terms of the X of Swords story it was another very skippable chapter.

Things happened with beautiful art. I just don’t give a shit about this title other than the pretty art and I’m really pissed off that I paid for this when the resolution was essentially “Cable bring your sword here” “in a bit” “okay” “I’m here with my sword now”

Although I liked Jean being written as capable and competent here, it makes a nice change to see her taking charge of a situation.

lol

Maybe Saturnye betraying Cable and co by leading them to somewhere dangerous? That was Cyclops' assumption, though I'm not sure he's right.

Well after reading it could be that the SWORD Station is important to the X of swords they could use it to invade Arroko.

Still hate young cable but thought Jean was actually really good and well written.

While Hellions was the much funnier book this week, I do gotta point out that I absolutely loved Magik's line about Cable renaming his sword.

The "fetch quest" for Kable's sword was basically the plot of #1-4 so I didn't expect much of this issue in that regard. It does seem to be a background pilot for Kable's next series. I wonder if that portal connects to one of Otherworld realms.

Possibly. They do say it has "things with deadly, contagious, infections half-lifes". It does seem to fit. It would at least explain why Saturnyne sent them there (other than as just a trap). In fact, my pet theory at the moment for how they solve the Amenth problem is (potential spoilers based on a completely out there wacky theory):
Spoiler: show
They turn the "wheel" of Otherworld. Otherworld was described as turning around the Starlight Citadel (the spoke). The Blightspoke is right next to the Dryador Kingdom that is linked to Arakko (and that is linked to Amenth). What happens is the wheel turns? Does Amenth rotate as well or does the Blightspole become the Kingdom that now connects to Amenth. Dryador was easy to conquer but Blightspoke seems far more dangerous and would keep the hordes of Amenth occupied (or even wipe them out). Maybe that's Cyclops' plan. To "rain" the Vescora over Amenth.
