Juggernaut #1

Post by Gremlin » 24 Sep 2020, 19:24

Anyone else pick this up?

In all honesty this was boring. It basically helps fill in the gaps after Juggs has his gem ripped from his in the recent Uncanny series. I'm not sure what the plot of this series is supposed to be other than getting us up to speed on what Cain is doing now.

It wasn’t soooo bad for me actually. Enjoyed it more than I thought, although the usual rebellious teenager template character appears in it.

It was interesting to see Ron Garney with an other art team, which made the art a bit more darker and „flatter“? Is that the right word?

His new uniform looks pretty cool.

I'm interested in Juggernaut, but I didn't see a decent hook for the series. And now that it's just a five issue mini, it felt like a wasted issue. This is the kind of story you tell in the back-ups after the main story finishes.

Exactly. It was an alright story beat for getting us caught up with Juggs, but a whole issue let alone mini series seems wasted if this is the outcome.

Ah, c'mon guys, don't you wanna see the Juggernaut fight the Hulk? What more hook do you need?!

But yeah, I agree, it's an okay story to catch up on Juggernaut, but I'm not sure how this justifies a five issue mini. Hopefully we get to see more of his new place after the mutants all decided to go hang out on an island without him.

It feels weird and discordant to have Juggs take on the horror that is the Immortal Hulk. Maybe he should fight Jen instead?

He already 'took on' She-Hulk, if ya know what I mean...

I liked it. D-Cel seems cool, great art, and I'm interested in Juggernaut getting a new direction. Hopefully one that sticks.

I will agree that this felt like an issue of an ongoing rather than the first issue of a mini.

IIRC she was from another reality (still counts though I guess)

I liked this, though I am a Juggernaut fan. I liked catching up with him and seeing what he is doing. It is also nice seeing a writer address where a character has been rather than Hickman-style just plopping them into whatever status quo you want them to be in regardless.

I'm excited to see Juggernaut beat Hulk's ass next issue.
