Somebody smarter than me care to explain what happened with the bomb in old Cable’s arm?

Old Cable knew Kable was going to need a bomb so took the time machine out of his arm and replaced it with a bomb... but this implies that Old Cable was always killed by Kable and therefore could have avoided it, meaning this was all pre-determined and Kable is on a fixed track timeline...

I know a lot of people don't like this title, but I have to admit that i really do. It just makes me feel good when I read it.

No that part I get...but originally the time machine looked “normal”, then he closed it, winced and then reopened it and it was a bomb. Like did Bable do something?

He decided that that he would replace the time machine with a bomb once he was an old geezer.

That's how I read it at least.

So he actively changed his own timeline?

If that’s the case, then I like this issue like even more because that’s so Bill & Ted, EphX lol

I really like this issue, the best of the title so far imo. I have been enjoying this take of Cable, but Kable killing his older self never sit right with me. So I’m intrigued to see that Cable knew about this all along and that he was actively changing his timeline. I’m still confused with all the consequences of that, but I won’t think about that now lol. Love the interaction in the summers house.

Fun issue. I do agree that the bomb thing didn't quite make sense to me. I mean, I got that Cable knows what's going to happen, so he purposely replaced the time machine with a bomb so Kid Cable could use it, which is the important part. But I have no idea how that would result in the bomb replacing the time machine in real time before Kid Cable and Esme's very eyes. If Cable switches it, it's always switched... to say that Kid Cable can just 'will' stuff to happen by saying "eh in the future I'll fix it" is a bit of a stretch too far, even for a comic book.

The scene at the end was cute, but I'm still not sure how old Kid Cable is supposed to be. He comes off a lot younger to me in this final scene (12ish), whereas other places he seems like he's a teenager on the verge of adulthood (like 16-17ish). Which also makes me wonder how old the Cuckoos are supposed to be... surely they're adults by now?
