So the redacted group from New Mutants 3 was the MLF? That's... a letdown.

Anyway, this book continues to be...OK. It's not awful, but it's not terribly interesting either. At least not yet. It has a couple nice character beats like Cyclops and Magik's conversation, Mondo/Cypher/Krakoa interaction, etc but nothing extraordinary IMHO. I'd actually be more interested in seeing more of their life in Krakoa than these missions.

Also... apparently in 616 there's a country name Europa in Europe? That's original. Does it have a rapist white bull as well?

Europa was also a Marvel UK title...

In that case it was a reference to the continent of Europe though. I appreciate that it might not sound as bad for English speakers but in most European languages, the name for Europe is "Europa" since the name was adopted from Latin (that took it from the greek myth). It's probably hard to distinguish in conversation for Europeans living in 616.

Is this new or did this country exist before?

This... yeah, I still don’t know how to feel about this. The Mutant of the Week certainly feels like a rehash of Zeb’s Wells’ first arc on New Mutants and while I really enjoy that most of the characters got something to say or do this issue it still just kind of feels like not enough.

I think so? Lol...I tried googling it but didn’t see it. But it feels like I’ve seen it before.

I''m not sure what I want from this title to be honest, but this was a bit of a let down. It wasn't BAD, but it didn't really ignite any excitement for the next issue. I do appreciate that Illyana told Scott to stand down and she's got her people covered.

Did Chamber and Magma have something in the past?

Chamber and Magma had nothing, but he seems to have a bit of a crush on her.

I mean Chamber would technically be in her age range...so I mean, I can understand it happening

I understand it, but it felt like there was something there that he was hoping she'd see. Amara was always the one the New Mutants were crushing on in the early days.

They need to resurrect Antonio for Magma. She felt so good with him.

Him! He was hoping she would take notice of him. That is actually the worst. To have a crush on someone, and they don't actively ignore you (which would require a conscious effort and as such be an acknoledgment of their existence) but them being so busy talking to someone else, that they don't even notice you. Amara doesn't even mean bad, but the way she was able to overlook him like that told Chamber everything he needed to know.

Your desperation is showing too much. It's driving me away.

I think this book is "good" but not as good as it should/could be.

The first story arc (the space one) was ok but it was a little bit lackluster, a good idea but poorly developed, that space trip could have been much more interesting, longer and revealing. I love Magik but maybe having her in that concrete story arc able to teleport the team straight to Earth if she wanted was a bad idea, even if Hickman/Brisson seem to ignore the fact that Illyana CAN do it.

The Earth story arc was bad, not only it was a poor choice of characters but the story itself was underwhelming. Maybe if they had decided to use Boom Boom, Syrin, Warpath, Monet, Skin, Synch and Rusty Collins/Skids here they could have worked out a different story that actually told us something we wanted to read.
Spoiler: show
The only big reveal is the twins and their allegiance to Shaw and It hasnt been revealed in NM but in Marauders.
Mondo and Chamber are not mixing well with the team, not because they cant but because our writers are not working too much/too hard on that.

It is interesting that this book do have several key plots that could be explored in a parallel manner like:
  • Doug-Warlock-Technarchy
    Krakoa-Limbo
    Krakoa-Limbo-Technarchy
Resurrection protocols and how it affected several key characters here
Hellions (the original ones)-MLF-Xterminators-GenX-NM-XForce as they are throwing them all together but they are all having different backgrounds and are different generations of recruits
Legion-NM (they have lots of story behind)
    Moonstar-Asgard-Valkiries-repowering her
Instead it surely looks like the book is partly a filler, not exploring much as it could do.

I like that Armor keeps showing up and the Mondo and Cypher stuff is definitely interesting at least...

I see two thing coming up:

Cyclops vs. Magik
Mondo/Krakoa vs. Cypher

Chamber is the only character in this that feels out of place and I think that's intentional.

Looking back at the Earth story compared to the Space story...I think I liked the overall story better, but the Space story had good character moments like Illyana's "coming out" of sorts.

You fix the art and I like that story a whole lot...

It actually deals with the other consequences of Krakoa...

Honestly, I wished that Magma and Sunspot ended up together. I also wished that Chamber and Husk ended up together as well. I honestly did not like Jubilee and Chamber together as a couple, that pairing just came out of nowhere, imo. But they are no longer together.

So who are the other MLF members on that panel when Doug walked in to their habitat? I only recognized forearms

Isn't warlock/Technarcy a part of the Phalanx or was that only in the cartoon?
