Top script, loved the art (just had one issue by Buffagni on Astonishing by Soule, but I liked this one better), and best Mystique cover ever!! very happy with Uncanny: TOPS

I’m really about ready for some story instead of a collection of one and done issues now...

It was a story. It continued threads from HoX and this very series too. If you mean a multi-parter, I imagine Hickman will get there eventually, if his past series’s are any indication.

I think Das’s means story that does cover more than 1 issue...

But as you say Tessa, the stories do connect, sometimes thematically and other times in subtle ways.
#1 continued the story from HoX/PoX in regards to Orchis but also establishing the change in community (also touched the Shi’ar aspects with the Starjammers)
#2 touched back on Apoccy’s history with the islands but also introduced new allies and a new threat (whatever the First Horsemen and Akarro are fighting in Limbo)
#3 did bring in a new threat but also thematically connected to the larger theme of natural vs artificial by adding another natural participant to the story who isn’t an ally to either side.
#4 touched back on stuff from HoX/PoX.
#5 reached back to #1 but more importantly re-established a past threat as even more credible

And now this issue reaches back to HoX while also introducing another X-factor.

It’s not how traditionally X-Men stories go though, so I see where he’s coming from.
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

I am 100% #TeamMystique at this point. Burn. Krakoa. To. The. Ground.

Another good issue and a part of a story, but this is getting irksome. This book feels like something entirely skippable, but at the same time it feels completely necessary because something is surely going to reference something in it that will confuse the hell out of you if you didn't read it. A lot and nothing has happened. A lot because, obviously, an issue like this sets the stage for some major fire in the future. Nothing, because it's almost assured we won't hear anything else about it for months.

This made me feel incredible dread. The art was beautiful. I loved this issue and am reminded that I can be a Mystique fan.

Great issue. I said at the time there was someone off about Mystique’s panels in House of X and I’m glad it was a plot point. I kinda thought she had a second mission going on.

Part of me gets a feeling of "Krakoa was never meant to last" purely based on how things are going in various titles. Like it was meant to be a staging ground in the Dawn of X, but something would happen to it and mutants would be stuck in a world with a whole other reason to hate and fear them.

I doubt this will be what happens, but it intrigues me a bit.

Unfortunately and even if I absolutely loved this issue... it never made sense why Mystique would stop using her disguises while moving around Orchis.

When your powerset is actually changing forms to infiltrate an absolutely dangerous place like this... why would Raven go back to her original body to be identified and killed like it did?
Imagine we have Kitty fighting guys with guns... why would she fight them without her intangibility? Or Cipher not using her phase/camo powers?

Yes, Raven managed to complete her mission yet she was far from the pro she normally is. She should have been the one Xman surviving that mission... but she was the first to be killed off.

I really like Krakoa. Having a mutant homeland is important. Xavier and Magneto seem to be the problem here and not Krakoa itself.

well, no one told Krakoa to suck Mutants dry and kill a few of them.

If it's managed, nobody actually has to die. We're talking about thousands and thousands of people at this point.

Loved this. Never thought I’d side with Mystique!! Does she have some sort of resistance to telepathy? I’d think Xavier would pick up on all of the info Mystique has from Destiny.

It's been mentioned in various comics and other media that Mystique can confound telepaths because of the nature of her ever-shifting brain. Some writers use this powerset, other's do not. I think it's a good one for her, considering she is a character based on subterfuge.

I loved this issue, and I love Hickman's grasp on Mystique so much.

Okay so real talk.

I DID enjoy this issue. Despite my initial reaction of “oh, ANOTHER one and done story of Krakoa 🙄”, I really feel like this is the spinning plate to watch. Mystique as the Judas to the entirety of Krakoa puts her in such a precarious situation, going forward, that I can’t help but really hope Hickman plays against type and actually goes ahead with resurrecting Destiny, but I feel it might come with the caveat of making she and Raven leave Krakoa. After all, she’s arguably the most accurate precog thag mutant-kind has had.

More importantly, i FELT for Mystique here. Xavier and Magneto know they have her on a leash. She knows it too. But they both MUST know that she’ll never agree to this, long term. That there WILL come a point where enough is enough. They HAVE to know that about her. So what do they do when that moment happens? Imprison their most talented and experienced espionage agent like they did with Sabretooth?

Mystique is also on the Council so it would be A LOT harder to give her the Sabretooth treatment.

I've actually liked every issue of Hickman's X-Men so far, but I'm just flat out annoyed with a new story every month that may or may not build off of something established previously. I feel like this will end up reading better in trade purely because it'll be more condensed.

Hot take: Xavier and Magneto have some idea of what Mystique knows. They wanted her to kill Alina Gregor. Why? So they could “justifiably” imprison her in accordance with Krakoan law. Destiny problem solved.

Question: doesn't Omega Sentinel has a tech that can detect mutants in her vicinity?

I still have no idea how she became a Sentinel again when she was „cured“ I think in X-Women.
