Cable #5

So ends a forgettable arc with a forgettable villain. At least we finally got those Vikings and Romans I wanted. And dinosaurs. But yeah, pretty bland story overall. If the new arc didn't look interesting (adding more heroes and such) I'd be dropping this.

This ending sucked! Sorry, this is a Cable book and their final fight was super anticlimatic.

You can hate that early 2000s Cable series with Hope for alot of reasons but at least the cliffhangers and climaxes always felt epic.
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

I'm not sure how you can get more epic than an army of soldiers drawn from different eras from vikings to tanks vs an army of dinosaurs for possession of an object that can manipulate all of time lol

But I do agree this arc was weak. Not sure why they led with this. I don't know if it is to set something up for later or what. But there was just too much action and not enough character. The villain was pretty two-dimensional.

At least Cinar's art was very well done.

Is this a limited series or ongoing?

It is an ongoing, though Robinson only wrote these first 5 issues and now Ed Brisson will become the new writer next issue as it switches to legacy numbering with Cable #150.

Maybe the legacy numbering is why they led with this arc. They needed a filler to get it up to #150 when the actual planned story is set to begin.

Oh I didn't realize the writers were switching up too. Probably a good thing and making me think it was a filler arc as Bigstever says.

Yeah, the art was great, story a little bland. Here's hoping things improve with the Legacy arc.

I just read through the first five issues. I picked up the lot on E-Bay.

I have to agree that this was a pretty meaningless five issues. Large pictures, a lot of generic posturing, and a story that does nothing to advance anything.

I have since read the remainder of Cable issues, which were better, but it still feels like these stories have no effect on Marvel proper or Cable's character development.
