This was everything I wanted it to be, and I demand that there’s a follow up

I'm not a fan of Jubilee's new ability but overall the humor of this series was great. I literally burst out laughing when Dazzler pulled up her playlist

THE PLAYLIST. I need it.

Would we say a new ability? It’s been referenced quite a few times that Jubilee’s powers are essentially detonating matter on a molecular level, and I’m sure there have been a fair few references to say that she’s capable of a blast of almost nuclear proportions

I have to say I loved the throwback to issue one with Tabby and Jubilee’s back and forth

“Add her back”

I honestly feel like I’m Tabby in group chat settings

EDIT: wish list for the next run
-auditions for another team member
-Dazzler remembering that she has a law degree and a Shulk guest spot
-It to be an ongoing road trip story
-More council scenes

Yeah, I'd love for this to become an ongoing, or like a continuing mini. They need another lady to add to the team though - and it'd kinda be fun if it was a human ally. Like bring back Stevie Hunter, Kyle, or Charlotte Jones for a little side adventure. Otherwise, I think throwing in Marrow, Monet, or Northstar would be fun.

I just loved how this felt like a bunch of friends having FUN. I like what's going on in a lot of the X-books in general, but there is a distinct lack of fun, which this gratefully injected back into the mythos.

I guess I mean as a new application of her abilities. It definitely has been mentioned before that she can ignite on a subatomic level so Williams is only playing on what has come before. But I just don't like power creep in general or the elimination of limitations that has gone on for many classic characters. At least this one does make some sense, as opposed to something like Rahne "I'm multiple wolves now!" Sinclair.

Oh! That makes sense! I dunno— I guess for me I read her “I’ve never had a space big enough to test this out” as ACTUALLY meaning “I’ve been too scared to do this before because of the implications but I can’t really hurt you” kind of thing, if that makes sense?

Also the Rahne wolf-pack thing was from Mothervine was it not?

Yeah it wasn’t a natural upgrade.
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

I was a little disappointed in the last issue, but still love the series overall and can't wait to see what Williams delivers next. I feel like the plot ran out of steam, and this issue was "girl power for the sake of girl power."

So what was Magik's role in all this? Did Jubilee create a nuke, and have Magik teleport it to space? It was tough to tell from the art, but if this was the case why did Jubilee get caught in the explosion and epilate herself?

Magik was how they got in and out of the Collector's lair.

This seems correct.

(As in, I like that Illyana has a pet now. I realised that read really shady when I left it at just the statement there which wasn’t my intention ha ha)

You rang? j/k

On the whole, I actually did like this series, though I definitely didn't love it. The humor was hit-or-miss, some jokes were great (especially the group chat data page this issue) while others fell flat. The plotting also felt a bit jumbled - things moved a bit slow for the first couple issues, then basically resolve by the end of issue 4 with this one just being clean up (JJ put it well). I think the cuts to "this story is actually a debrief by the Council" hurt more than helped.

But, I did really enjoy it for the reason Milkshake mentioned, which is that it's just a bunch of friends having fun. It's nice seeing them be able to joke and insult each other, but in a good-natured way as friends can do.

Art was pretty good too, though I sometimes had trouble telling Dazzler and Boom-Boom apart since they were basically drawn as identical blondes just with different hairstyles.

I was being facetious, just so we’re all clear lol

I gotta say though, I think it’s alot easier to make people of the same sex, race, hair color, stature, etc look different when doing pin-ups but alot harder when doing in action.
