This was okay. I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it. This continues to be one of those titles that is never outright terrible for me, and occasionally has glimmers of brilliance but this book is still middle of the pack for me.

I might have to go back and re-read the previous issue but I can’t remember why the mutants aren’t on Krakoa. I also don’t understand why we get this whole set up of “the two” but don’t actually see what they do... like, I don’t want that Austin Powers style joke of reacting to something the audience don’t see without the punchline of seeing it... it was fun seeing Masque, Bliss, Marrow and the other two that I genuinely can’t remember ever seeing before but okay.

I dunno. The art was good, but I just don’t... I dunno. I’m confused as to why I’m still picking this up.

The Morlocks lived in the community in the southwest as a type of retirement community style situation for them...it’s what they chose as a means of enjoying the good life.

Are the Stepford Cuckoos considered natural blondes?

Their mother/genetic template is not.

This issue, and by extension, this week continues to prove that these are the best two X-Titles out now.

I kind of like the "mystery" of what "The Two" came up with. It's definitely meant to be left up to your interpretation. I think one thing Marauders does better than Excalibur is use the entire team effectively. No one really feels wasted in this title or like a sidekick to the headliner.

I just like that this book does such a great job of reminding you that Bishop is by and large the mutant Punisher/Black Widow...he’s a singular bad-ass who looks so effing cool being cool.

Yeah, I make the same point repeatedly, but this book goes to show that even if you take a cast of characters I hate a good writer can make them something incredible. With Storm gone pretty much known of the main roster are characters I like. Emma, obviously, but I've never been a fan of Iceman, Pyro I nothing, and I've hated Bishop and Kate for years.

And here we are, with this being one of my two favorite books.

This is the first time Pyro has expressed remorse for his past since his ressurection.
I remember him doing so just before his death.

OH, totally forgot the other thing I wasn’t mad at this issue— we get confirmation that the resurrection protocols aren’t common knowledge among humans— whether that also equates to the super-hero community as a whole, I don’t know, but either way, I feel like this is something that Orchis will use to drive a wedge between mutants and humans when they rear their head again

Yes can imagine the Superhero community being a little concerned that the Mutants are resurrecting themselves constantly in the case of X-Force which is why have this premonition of X-Men Vs Avengers 2.0.

Not a terrible issue was glad to see the new Reavers get taken down hopefully future upgrades will make them look less like Naked-Ironmen and more menacing Reaver Cyborgs.

Who was the kid Bishop was threatening again?

I really liked the part where Kate is returning to the boat and pyro starts making Jaws reference and the part when the Morlocks take over Low-Town and name it Mutant-Town.

Also liked the look of Masque but do wonder how he is now less deformed than he was?

When characters like that become heroic, they typically start getting drawn less and less deformed. Marrow and Callisto are two other examples.

Fun trope.

Also a terrible trope. I think Marrow got prettier as well when she joined the X-Men.

I think Marrows was at least given a story rationale...Callisto’s just happened all or sudden in the 90s

Yeah, I remember it in either the Cannonball or Marrow spotlight, but even since she returned to being "ugly" she's still been far "prettier" than she was before. Even in this issue she looked relatively normal.

Well part of that is due to her controlling her powers now.

I think Marauders together with X-Force are two books that either get refreshed and revamped or will be massively dumped by lots of readers.

Both books tick in most of the points that, usually, make a book interesting but it's failing somehow.
When I read Hellions or X-Factor I feel satisfied with their character beats and developments and their storylines. I can't say the same with these books and their characters.
Marauders had a quite forced plot with Kitty not being able to go through the gates and then her failing resurrection, it did have some good issues that I personally enjoyed (e.g. Callisto vs Storm) but 19 issues now and not much has happened and I haven't felt very emotionally invested with the plots which is weird as I love Duggan's writting.

Anyway, it was cool seeing Marrow and some Morlocks coming to help in this issue.

I miss the old Reavers. But the current crop make good cannon fodder. The best Bishop has been written in awhile. I'm unsure of Callisto's role. Is she no longer Emma's bodyguard? Was she Emma's bodyguard? Masque comes across as a short version of Phantasm's Tall Man.

I can easily see Duggan continuing this and the new X-men title but I do wonder if some of the older books will be trimmed to make way for all the new books coming out.

The more they expand the line, the more diluted the brand gets monetarily. Eventually some of the books will fall away in sales and get cancelled. I just hope those books aren't X-Factor and Hellions.
Current Pull List
Hickman's X-men, Runaways, Champions, Immortal Hulk, X-Factor, New Mutants, Hellions, Marauders
