Dawn of X

Post by SW442 » 19 Jul 2019, 22:51

I posted in the Hickman thread, but it's probably better in separate thread since it's more than just Hickman & HOX / POX.

We got this from JDW and Hickman for Dawn of X.

Multiple fans have cracked the code, and the books we have for Wave 1 are.
X-Men
Marauders
Excalibur
X-Force
New Mutants
Fallen Angels

JDW has given approval it seems. So looks to be legit.

X-men: Obviously. Assuming it will have a huge cast and run twice a week (or more)
Fallen Angels: Assuming that's why Bill the Lobster is showing up. Also Sunspot will probably be there.
New Mutants- Probably the place for Hickman's boy Sam.
Marauders: Probably the Magneto-centric book, but seems strange to use that name
X-force: Natural pick.
Excalibur: JDW said something about it, IIRC.

Magneto did use an iteration of the Marauders as lackeys in Cullen Bunn's solo series. And several of the Acolytes joined up with them for a while during Messiah Complex so there are some links there if it is the Magneto-centric book. Could be in New Mutants or Fallen Angels either.

Fallen Angels was evidently a book with Sunspot from the 80's.

So may be a continuation of that.

Maybe we'll get Siryn back. That'd be great.

So if we’re going with X-Men as the flagship...

I think Marauders is possibly going to be Sabretooth and Mystique-centric given their prominence. Maybe the new adult mutants too given that they seem to be gestalts of other characters so possibly Sinister-focused?

Excalibur— would explain why Meggan’s turned up in Age of X-Man after being pretty quiet for several years 🤷‍♂️

New Mutants— I’m HOPEFUL this is a title focusing on the younger Mutants but suspect maybe this is Dani’s story...

X-Force— really don’t think Sam will be appearing much to be honest— maybe this is Domino’s title?

Fallen Angels— I think this one might be more on the nose in terms of it being characters who flip-flop on the moral spectrum more than pick a side? I dunno.

As long as each title has its own mission statement then I am totally down for that lineup. Excalibur could be the interesting one given that if we are solely focusing on mutants then we might not see the likes of Captain Britain. It would also be why Nightcrawler could have gotten a solo during Age of X-Man...both he and Meggan would headline this title.

Perhaps Fallen Angels is a book starring all of those characters that Rosenburg just killed off?

If Excalibur isn't based on Krakoa, Captain Britain could be part of the group... or Betsy could easily fill his role, being a Mutant and a former Captain Britain.

It's a book featuring alternate reality versions of Warren that are still learning how to fly.

Every icon is a letter from the alphabet, there was a page with the icons/letters in an Avengers? comic some time ago.

So, those 4 squares are the latter X.
The rectangle, C downwards, half moon, full circle is M.
The full circle, 3 rectangles, full circle is E
