Christos Gage Returns for a One-Shot

So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

Who in the world is this for? You can't tell me fans of 60's X-Men stories are clamoring to have them drawn in *GREG LAND*'s style. I will be leaving this on the stands.

Seriously, Marvel. Stop pushing the O5. ENOUGH. The era was so unpopular it was cancelled and the team entirely replaced. Just let. It. Go.

It was cancelled but after a run of over 50 issues. Quite a few characters would love a run like that. The O5 is personally one of my favorite eras.

That being said, it is hard to tell a good story for five characters in just one issue. I'll definitely give it a pull though.
Best Comics of Week 39

X-titles: Storm #5 by Ann Nocenti (6) and Geraldo Borges (3)
Non-X titles: Avengers #5 by Jed MacKay (8) and Ivan Fiorelli (1)

In parentheses number of times creator had best comic this year

Well Cable, you and I have VERY different tastes...and they had 50 issues then, so go back and read those, or Bendis's run, or any of the neverending stories that either revisit the era or use the O5 in their current forms. Why don't we have the Legends title still? That was fun and made sense to tell era-specific stories, and I am tired of reading the same era revisited over and over. Still can't imagine you were hoping for an O5 story where one of them gets dragged to the present AGAIN and it's drawn by Land.

Cable actually doesn’t hate Land’s art…

At first I wasn’t too interested, even if I am a fan of the writer and consider him along Zubs and Parker as Marvel’s most underrated writers. But then I saw it wasn’t a rehash of them coming to our present. And so even if, like Shakes, I could do with a different cast, I’m a huge fan of the writer and can’t help myself with any Authority-style story. I love watching people deal with problems when a good guy is corrupted by too much power. So I’m partially intrigued.

I certainly would prefer stories set in that era rather than them being pulled through time or dimensions. The Bendis O5 stuff is arguably the worst run of X-Men ever.

I don't hate it as much as many do, but when dealing with the O5 a retro style would be preferred. And Land is probably about as far from that as you can get.

I just kinda hate most time travel stories because they often feel like a copout. There are tons of good ones, don't get me wrong, I just think that X-titles have used it as a trope way too frequently and oftentimes they convolute the characters or story they're trying to tell. I mean, we've already gotten multiple time travel stories this year. SoS was pretty good, but the X-Force QQ one was awful and basically the exact same thing. And we got X Lives/Deaths just last year plus the one in Marauders too.

And Cable, yes, agree, if they're going to do a story with these guys at LEAST give us some cool retro art, not magazine tracing and faces that look like they're always shouting or in ecstacy. Land has done SOME good work but it's been a loooooong time. And I've just read too much from other artists about how he traces and repurposes their work in what is basically a Frankenstein of plagiarism.

I would guess it's either Jean or Beast or Cyclops getting stuck in the present again, either to retroactively redeem Beast, have the weird Apocalypse/Jean/Phoenix story play out, or Orchis will kill adult Cyclops (least likely in my opinion) to have the younger take his place.

Idk if that's how it'll end...at least for our main MU timeline, since it appears the kids are going to another timeline for an alternate world with an Old Lady Phoenix (which I love that's the naming convention for old versions of the X-Men lol). I actually wouldn't be surprised if we maybe we get modern day Beast replaced with an Old Man Beast from this other world. Setting off a multiversal Beast War LOL...

This is definitely a skip from me. The O5 stories are a little worn out for me and the addition of Greg Land is a big turnoff.
Everybody is entitled you their opinion...but yours is wrong.
