It’s a little sad for me that (most of) the New Mutants still don’t wear individual costumes. Look back at what Sunspot archived in his whole Avengers career. I am a little bit afraid that he will be reduced back standing in the shadow of the Moonstar & Magik duo.

And for God’s sake give Magik a new costume already.

“Betsy Braddock is Captain Britain...”

Didn’t Hickman already have a female Captain Britain in Avengers? Why does it have to be Betsy?

Do you mean Lionheart? She's not a mutant and Hickman had said that he thinks only mutants should be x-men. If they're still using Krakoa and the gateways, being a mutant is a requirement. Come to think of it, did we ever get any resolution on the whole "one of the x-men isn't a mutant"? Maybe that'll come into play with Krakoa.

Plus, Lionheart is a Chuck Austen creation. I'm guessing most writers would want to stay far far away from that lol.

Most importantly, I think they wanted to give the Psylocke moniker to Kwannon and having two Psylockes was confusing so they gave Betsy her old role as Captain Britain. I think this just makes everything more confusing but... oh well. Revanche was an awful codename anyways so I'm glad that's gone at least.

That was either Bendis or Johns if you mean Kelsey Leigh. She is now going by Lionheart after Brian took over again.

It was actually Austen creating her and Bendis used her too.

Claremont featured her in his New Excalibur run.

Oh good, Rogue has a new condition again. She needs to press her head against Hope‘s again, and her condition will be gone.

Yeah, my eyes rolled when I saw that. Seriously, how many conditions and power issues does Rogue need. I will give it the benefit of the doubt until the issue drops, but this seems a really common plot re-tread with rogue.

Maybe her condition is something new…. like being pregnant with Maxime and Manon ?

It could be multiverse related? I mean we’re dealing with the CBC and Excalibur...

That would cool and kinda different...

Yeah but then she needs a French husb,.. OOOOHHHHH!!! 💡

Those twins were an unnecessary addition. I don’t like it when they create lil kids as „key“ characters in stories just to make it more all ages friendly.

Since Hickman is largely responsible for Roberto's Avengers career and he's writing New Mutants (Hickman is, by his own admission, a pretty big fan of both Sunspot and Cannonball, which is why he made them Avengers), I wouldn't worry about Roberto (or Sam) getting short changed.

That said, I agree that the New Mutants are due for some individualized outfits again.

Le sigh… I yearn for the days of Mike Carey's in-control, kickass guidance counselor Rogue.

Ok, I didn’t look at who is writing NM. Sounds better then. You know I love Dani and Roberto very much, and I would really want to see them finally as a full-time leaders for X-Teams and not just on-demand.

How is introducing kids = all-ages? Lol like there’s ALOT more that goes into that designate. A kid is just another character lol

Sir, if you look back at how many teens and kids were added since Micky Mouse took over, and art that targets younger audience, you can see that they want to attract younger people to comic series which attracted more mature readers.

Turning down the age rating gives Marvel, sorry, Disney more access to potential buyers.

Adding a 'kid character' for younger audiences to glomp onto is certainly a thing, but there's no way that was the intention behind Maxime and Manon. Zero people went out and bought Extermination just because those two characters were in it.

Not much here in terms of new info that wasn't already previewed for the first Dawn of X solicits (which is fine by me, actually). I agree re: the New Mutants uniforms, having everyone in their training togs feels as painfully retrograde as Jean's Marvel Girl uniform.

Those kids were little monsters. I doubt the inclusion of Maxime and Manon are trying to age-down any book, much less one that's already teeming with children.

Well I didn’t say young kids bought extermination because of the albino twins, I meant that in the last years the tone of certain series became lighter to attract a younger audience too.

It's the X-Men. Every new writer adds like 15 kids when they come into a book.

For every Wolverine and the X-Men, you have an Uncanny X-Force. The book has gone up and down in tone since its inception. I remember alot of silliness in the 80s.

Knowing UE far longer than anyone of you, I know what he means.

To be honest, we can’t deny that Disney had some input here and there.

Oh and UE baby, anger leads to the dark side..

The 90s were an exception and not the norm for American comics because there’s always been a sense of humor or silliness to the medium. And for every WatX you can easily pull out a Immortal hulk. The X-Men themselves under CC always had both aspects.

And the idea about art is incredibly subjective and ignores the actual idea that art trends in occur (maybe I just dont know what kid-friendly art is). Hell I’d call Liefeld art of the 90s wayyyyy more kiddie and unrealistic than the art of someone like Asrar or Allred.

And even if there’s a perception that I guess Disney bought more all-ages books (which I don’t even know how some of you conceive of that concept because WatX would NOT be all-ages but whatever), there’s still been just as much “serious” concept or mature content (sure Marvel got rid of MAX but that as an imprint was always the exception and not the norm for the company and sold poorly). And I can’t imagine how the idea of adding a kid somehow automatically makes it all-ages. Like there’s a kid in Venom right now and if you think that book is all-ages then I just give up lol

I don’t know why you are focusing so hard now on two, three books when I talk about the whole company and it’s whole series.

But never mind, I really see why people stop posting here cause it’s really hard to discuss with people from the Inner Circle of this forum.

I genuinely just HATE conspiracy theories. It is one of my biggest flaws that whenever someone starts going on about what I perceive to be one I just have to stab at it. I see far too many people with a bone to pick regarding Disney and Marvel. Every time it's pretty easily proven to be untrue. I get it, Disney is Disney and the name is basically the face of "family friendliness" and "all ages" but at the same time Disney has seemed to always let it's companies just do what they want. They seem to only really step in if the product isn't up to par.
