Ok, Reading her spotlight has helped a lot to understand Layla´s Powers, bit given that we had a Layla central issue on X-Factor it raised a few questions.

Apparently now she can "see" the future, and even more important, she can see more than one? In X-Factor 240 she claims, and we are shown, two different futures that can happen, and after she is quite stressed we see one more, like for example when she is about to bump that guy leaving the subway, or even worse she sees 9 possible timelines where different people are helping her up after she fell, untill things calm down again and she says she still "see" two possible futures, one where jamie leaves and one where he dies, and she can continue working towards the future she wants.

I can understand how that would have been the way young Layla would have seen things, with her brain reacting to a certain situation where she would have to act, and it showing her what to do, only she would have seen only one outcom, and not many possibilities.

Regarding adult Layla, I assume that is not how her knowing stuff would work, instead it being simply knowing how things happened because she read them in her journals, and she also read MANY information about coming events. So, like its mentioned in her spotlight she simply has to follow through what she know is going to happen, and act acordingly, because if she doesnt bad things would happpen.

Now,how come she "sees" two futures, or even worse more than two? She claims her brain is rewired, and that saving Guido created a short cut in it, but still, why would she see two timelines if she is only writing about one?

The way i understand it she should see how thigs are meant to be and where she needs to act, and when she acts have the outcome be either what she wanted, or something that would surprise her completely, because the timeline has changed due to her saving Guido, not seeing two possibilities. So, has her knowing stuff changed, or i completely dont understand the way it works?

Also, could she stop being "fate's pawn" once she dies? Wich is to say, she fakes her death on some date, and then makes sure her still being alive is not recorded anywhere? She did stop writing her journals when she died.

Hope everything in my question makes sense.

I think it's because she's created a paradox. By the time she came back to the present as an adult, and implanted her younger self with technology, she hadn't yet saved Guido. However, as a result of saving Strong Guy, she's changed what she knows to have happened in the present-- the simple act of returning Guido to life has skewed what she knows, but because she's there, in the present, she's still been to the future and received the information that she implanted into her younger self-- she's still read her own journals... basically, there are at least two time-lines that she's now aware of-- one where Guido died as she remembers the future, and one where he doesn't, which is the one she's created. What I took from that issue is that by changing one thing, she's created a Butterfly Effect... she doesn't know how far these changes reach, and she has no idea how drastically she's altered things. The flashes that she's getting are her knowledge of what SHOULD be, versus what now COULD be because of her actions. Basically, the fact that Guido is alive in the present is wrong according to her knowledge of the future. She didn't explain whether it was the tech, her own knowledge of what's to come, or some aspect of her power, but when she comes up against a series of events, she's no longer as sure as she used to be, because there are several possible immediate futures that could exist due to her saving Guido, and she can see/is aware of most of them when the situation arises that requires her to make a choice.

I can live with your explanation. Dont know if i agree if she should be able to see more than two possibilites thoug, but it makes sense that she sees the future the way she knows is supposed to happen, and the way is probably going to happen, unless if she "makes things right" in a way, and, like she said, she is "constructing" it. Thanks Das.

Also recognize that some of that issue was only "metaphorical" Layla-Vision. After all, there was that one scene where Guido and Monet were interacting...a scene Layla didn't influence and wasn't even present for. AND both sides of the scenario had Guido alive. So at least some of the split timelines we saw in the issue weren't Layla-related, but just an example of how one little action can influence the future dramatically.

Thanks Mono, it was just that this issue made me think so much about how Layla's knowing stuff works, and all of the time travel stuff from her spotlight, that i was overthinking it probably. I agree it must be mostly metaphorical, i was trying to understand it better, and hell, it still doesnt make sense to me that she should see more than two possibilities.

It's possible that her new Doom-tech has more to it than we know.

@Das: So, apparently i keep asking the same questions 8 years later, even though you and Mono already explained them to me. I am consistent. I read the issue again and the fact that the Layla visions are metaphorical make most sense to me now, and im putting my revelation here instead of the other thread because that was a Carey-PAD thread, and not a Layla one.

Beat you to it Manuel. Regarding what we know now as Layla's real powers: if someone she's resurrected later dies and is resurrected in the protocols, do they get their "soul" back? Guido apparently got his back in another manner, but I'm mainly thinking about Fitzroy.

Given the existence of Wanda's Eldritch Garden now, almost certainly yes.

Before that?

The original format of the resurrection protocols seemed to ignore souls entirely. But if we did assume that souls somehow reach these eggs (ignoring all other questions about duplicating souls through multiple husks, or whatever), then the question has to flip back around to: is the ABSENSE of a soul somehow preserved by the resurrection protocols? And the answer seems to be no. The lack of a soul would not realistically show up in brain wave patterns or genetic samples.

So given what we saw of Fitzroy before his original death/resurrection (a pretty good dude), he'd remember the things he's done since and most likely feel guilt for them? I ask because I have a story idea.
