I have no idea about Roxxon’s history (beyond Agger taking over)...so a refresher would be nice? And any issue references would be great

Not much to say. RoXXon doesn't have a "story" per se -- they're a generically evil corporation in the modern world. There's no "face" of RoXXon like MODOK and AIM or Strucker and Hydra. There have been a number of CEOs or vice presidents over the years, but if they're outted as criminal or corrupt, the company simply disavows them and someone else takes over.

The Brand Corporation that hired Beast back in his Amazing Adventures period was a RoXXon subsidiary. They actually DID get shut down, although RoXXon of course denied any knowledge of their misdoings. Characters like Griffin, Will o' the Wisp, and Killer Shrike came out of there or worked for them.

Other RoXXon super-employees or business includes Sunturion (Arthur Dearborn, a good man naively believing he serves a good company), hiring Deathlok, Nth Man, Thundra, and the Grapplers back during the Pegasus Project (Marvel Two-In-One #53-58), founding and empowering the third Serpent Squad who became the Serpent Society because Hugh Jones of RoXXon was under the influence of the Serpent Crown (Marvel Two-In-One #64-66), reviving James MacDonald Hudson for their own purposes (Alpha Flight #87-90). They were also supposedly infiltrated and co-opted by the Deltite in the Deltite Affair.

An amoral giant corporation that survives despite numerous scandals by simply offering a scapegoat every time they're caught and moving on? How unrealistic.

Wasn't Brand and/or Rixxon involved with the Squadron Supreme in Avengers 147-149 and later when Scarlet Wich investigated and got shot around Avengers 152-153? The Serpent Crown was involved in both stories.

Yes. Viper and the second Serpent Squad briefly put the Serpent Crown on the head of RoXXon's CEO Hugh Jones back during Cap's Nomad period. Past bearers of the Crown remained bound to it, to Set, and ultimately to other bearers of the Crown throughout realities. The led to collusion between Jones and the Crown bearers of the Squadron Supreme's Earth. Later, Hugh Jones retrieved the Crown with the help of the third Serpent Squad in Marvel Two-In-One #64-66.
