Avengers space station (early 2000s)

Post by Gibbering Fool » 01 Apr 2018, 21:59

I remember after Maximum Security the Avengers set up a space station in an asteroid in deep space to monitor for extraterrestrial threats. Quasar manned it. I can can only remember it appearing a couple of times. Surely it showed up more than that? Was it used more? Or if not was there a reason or was it simply forgotten?

Also did it have a proper name?

Deep space monitoring station, I believe, is all it was called. The more proactive era of the Avengers it served under (from Avengers (3rd series) #38-55) ended when Kurt Busiek left with #56. When Geoff Johns began in #57, he never made mention of it again.

Thanks Monolith! I thought I was probably something like that but hoping there was a more interesting story where it was destroyed or something.

Wow what a waste of money Avengers, just leaving that perfectly good space station out there

How many alien invasions have come and gone since then? (Rhetorical question)

But I can think of at least two other established institutions since then with the same remit. SWORD and Carol’s Alpha Flight. And maybe the Ultimates?
