Another week, another update. This time, we have the (brief) return of the Externals. Crule, Candra, Saul, Nicodemus, and Absolom make their debut in Excalibur #12 with Gideon also making his first speaking appearance.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but it still confuses me how people like the Externals floated to the top of the list for resurrections. Couldn't that time and effort in the part of the Five be put to better use bringing back people who are either missed or provide some utility? I could understand Candra and Selene but Crule and Absolom?

Why do you think they were resurrected by the Five?

I think you should re-read Excalibur (not to sound snarky) because I think Apoccy explains, indirectly, how they’re back.
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

It's also worth remembering that, while Cable #150-154 only came out a few years ago, it actually took place circa. 2006-2007 publication time. So the Externals have had considerable "in-universe" time to self-resurrect as they tend to do.

No offense taken. I just got the impression that the "summoning" thing Apocalypse was talking about was an all-or-none thing. And Burke (their precog) was noticeably missing.

Maybe he was missing because he knew what was about to happen.

After Burke was killed by Gideon in Cable #150-154, he was reincarnated as a newborn infant on the last page of the arc.

The start of X of Swords brings us four new characters; Apocalypse's original four children, War, Death, Famine, and Pestilence. Mad Jim Jaspers was mentioned in the Otherworld infograph, and one of the realms (highlighted for importants) bears the name of one Mister M. Whether or not that is concrete will have to be determined.

Also, Immortal She-Hulk brings us Tantrum.

Nice to see Tantrum back. He must have cut ties with his partner Discord.
