Amanda looked in horror as the same girl who had so helpfully removed her gag launched a surprise attack on Siryn. She could but watch in shock as the young Irish woman sank to her knees, grasping her wound and coughing up blood, before finally succumbing to her injuries. Theresa Cassidy was dead.

"What have you done..." she said faintly, unable to do anything as Death stepped forward, sword in hand.

An eyebrow rose as he watched it all. Only one had been chosen to be rid of the fakes but clearly they were reaching a boiling point as the wannabe archer girl suddenly killed the one that thought she could replace the OG Banshee. A smirk grew as he cackled, bouncing in glee. This was going better than planned. Now there were fewer there. The paranoia that was growing would benefit his killer quite well as the confusion and anger was boiling over. Now was the time to give them the perk and time they needed. Perhaps they could do even more damage this time.

With a flick of a switch the entirety of Murderworld went dark. That meant that the fake sunlight streaming in was gone and everything went pitch black. Gasps and shouts could be heard as they all reacted. A scream sounded as guttural sounds filled the air. Something sounded like flesh being ripped apart, the squishing sound of blood and other organs meeting their end. They called out to one another and to no one, trying to determine what was happening. Something seemed to explode, all of them gasping as they felt something warm splatter upon them.

With a sputter the light came back and the sight before those trapped was terrible. While the dead body of the woman formerly known as Siryn, and had she stayed as that she might have never been brought to the island but the poor child just had to try and replace her daddy, was still where it had been there were now two other bodies. What was left of the fake Hawkeye was all over. There were scraps of purple to show who it was, that and she was one of those missing now from the alive group, and it looked like something had sliced her body to pieces. Like an animal. Which was fitting since the other body was that of Death, also known as Wolverine when he hadn't been brainwashed to replace former Horseman.

The body was all there, with blood and gore all over the claws that no doubt matched that of Hawkeye, but it was also gone in a sense. Every scrap of flesh, bit of muscle and every other scrap of biological material was gone. It had been ripped, blasted or exploded from the body. Nothing but an adamantium skeleton remained. That would explain part of why there was warm body fluids all over the clothes of the rest of them.

If Death killed Hawkeye...did that mean he was the killer they had been looking for and it was all over? But he was dead now. That meant someone was still killing them...right?

Thanks to her time with Freedom Force, Julia Carpenter was well-acquainted with the government's low standards for selecting superhumans for service, but the Avengers had been really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this new 'Hawkeye.'

"We need to stop fighting each other if we want to survive." Julia stated flatly.

Julia surveyed the carnage before them. While the Irish girl had been annoying, she didn't deserve to die like this. Julia knew enough about Siryn's father to know that her dad wouldn't have died to a punk kid so easily. No, the elder Banshee had survived this throat being slit more than once; his killer had used a jet to crush him, and even that didn't keep him dead for long. But his daughter couldn't even survive one arrow to the neck. Wuss.

Maybe that was a clue. All the victims thus far were rather... disappointing. When compared to her father, Siryn did fall short. Wolverine was even more of a psycho than usual in his death persona, and no one knew WTF that April Parker was. The thought that the killer was taking out the weakest substitutes gave Julia a little comfort; what had Jessica Drew ever done, anyway? Being first didn't make her better, just older and more likely to be replaced by an alien.

Julia scanned the group but found no sign of the symbiote, their best, maybe last, chance at finding the killer. "Dammit." The symbiote was gone, maybe killed by Kid Gladiator. The youth appeared impulsive and undisciplined, but maybe his 'swatting' of the symbiote had actually been a careful move intended to incapacitate the one witness capable of identifying the killer?

Rachel stared.

Siryn, Hawkeye and Logan lay dead in front of her. Siryn she knew, although not well. The teenage Hawkeye? She had little idea. But Logan...
Rachel didn't deny that she and Logan had not always been close. There was a time when he had stabbed her, although she could admit now that it may have been for the best. But recently...

Recently he had softened, and she had seen a kindred spirit in him - wild outsiders bound by a sense of duty and a longing for stability and family that they never dared to admit.

And now he was gone... Yet again, Rachel was alone.

Holding back tears, she determined to find the truth, the one truth and the one killer.

She knew nothing of the future spiderman. Perhaps he could be held accountable?

Noh-Varr liked to think that he reacted fast to the unexpected. But he had been caught completely off guard. He had to admire that Kate had managed that. She had been very good at that.

His mind went blank as he searched in vain for something to distract himself from exactly what had happened. What she had done. And what had followed. It didn't work

His eyes dtifted towards the bodies. Wolverine, the irish redhead.....and Kate. In pieces, completely obliterated.

He studied the people left around him. Anyone could be the killer. They were all powerful enough to be respected by this fanboy, all capable of inflicting the deaths they had seen so far.

All that was left were brains and motives. These people were heroes and Noh knew enough of what that entailed to know there would be a danm good reason for this.

His thoughts drifted back to Rachel Grey. Something about her unsettled him. There was something off. She was too calm after losing people she knew. Too composed.

He knew that the kree disapproved of such things but humans told people to trust their instincs. Noh decided to trust his and he strode towards Rachel

Kid Gladiator had no love for Wolverine but there was no denying that the man was a warrior. To see his headmaster's adamantium skeleton unsettled him.

"Damn!" Kid Gladiator shouted as he took to the sky.

He was getting worried. This situation was no longer a chance for glory, this was a battle of survival. Kubark felt his confidence wane and with it, his mighty strength. He was growing weaker with every death and yet with every death, this twisted game got more dangerous...

He needed to do something to boost his confidence but what? Kid Gladiator looked down at his fellow captives, seeking the strongest one to pick a fight with. He suddenly began to laugh. Even at half strength, Kubark could easily defeat all of them except for his teacher, Rachel Grey, but he wasn't about to pick a fight with her.

A sort of giddy glee flowed through him as Fanboy watched every moment. They were almost all gone. His agent was doing their job well, making sure the fakes and wannabes were wiped out one by one. There were only a handful left at this point. The innocent Banshee being offed before had been almost hilarious because their levels of paranoia were skyrocketing. Now there was even more between those that were left because they knew one of them was the killer, and their chances of catching that person were both increasing and decreasing at the same time. One wrong choice, one wrong move and it was over for them all. The question of if he would let the chosen agent survive was still up for debate. Perhaps one replacement hero could be left...maybe. Then again maybe he would have them finished off in the next game or banish them from this world. Yes maybe that. It could be fun.

The battlefield flickered back onto the screens as they all were trying to piece things together after the loss of three more of them. It was now to be four. Everything shifted. In fact it was them that was shifted as teleporters took them away from the beach and jungle landscape they had found themselves within before. Instead now there was nothing but snow and mountains around them. Each one was alone, with a path ahead of them. It would take them where they needed to go.

Upon reaching the center path, they were reunited. Only problem was that all six were there, but only five of them were alive. Noh-Varr's body was found there in the center of the paths. His heart was beside his body, blood pouring from the wound. It was hard to tell if it was ripped or cut from his body. Oddly enough the remains of Kate were moved and were with Noh-Varr's corpse. Almost fitting with their previous relationship and the attacker having gone for his heart. It was a bit odd, but when dealing with someone like Fanboy there was nothing too odd.

Five down, four to go.

With each death, the killer proved himself to be a worthy opponent and Kid Gladiator's confidence was waning. He felt his strength leaving him. This was not a time to play hero, it was well past time to escape this madness. He looked to the sky and prepared to do whatever it would take to leave here.

Kubark, stay close!

Rachel was in his head. Despite her constant detentions, lame lectures, and inane homework assignments, he could not leave his favorite teacher behind.

Kid Gladiator knew Rachel well enough to know she would never abandon the others, even if one of them was a competent killer. He had no choice, he would scoop her up and fly off with her, willing or-

Don't even think about, Kubark!

Kid Gladiator was frozen by Rachel's telepathy.

But Professor, Kid Gladiator pleaded. We have to-

Figure out who the killer is and take him down. Not run.

Rachel didn't understand his situation. He would only grow weaker after this moment. He was in no position to play detective.

As professor and student glared at each other, exchanging words no one else could hear, Kid Gladiator spotted Julia Carpenter staring at them suspiciously.

Rachel felt Kubark waning, his powers draining from him.

Even as she looked at him, he seemed to shrink slightly.

She did what she could to keep him going - despite her general distaste for the Shi'ar, she knew that Kubark was a good kid.

Seeing Julia Carpenter staring at them, Rachel stormed over.

' I thought you could see the future now? Did you predict this? Innocent people are dying and you're doing nothing. Some powers...'

She wished she had some sort of team with her - Excalibur would have been great round about now.

Rachel missed those days - life as a school teacher left a lot to be desired.

And now she seemed to be the only one around here actually trying to solve the mystery of who was doing this.

What the hell was wrong with everyone?

Miguel kept his distance from the rest of the group; he didn't know any of them and didn't know who to trust. Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, Squirrel Girl; these were the heroes the history books remembered.

Tension seemed to be growing a few of the group and Julia Carpenter. Someone referred to her as Spider Woman but the only Spider Woman he knew was May Parker, daughter of Peter Parker (who had been a bit of a dick the last couple of times they interacted).

He wished he to go home to 2099.

Julia didn't need telepathy to sense the growing suspicion. However, when the worst Jean Grey substitute of all time challenged her abilities, Julia didn't remain silent.

"The future is uncertain - we still have a chance to affect the outcome, but that change is too probabilistic to allow me to access future events. What's your excuse for failing to detect Kate's decision to kill Siryn? With your powers, you could have read her mind and frozen her with a thought before she could attack. Or did allowing Kate to murder an innocent play into your plan?"

Rachel opened her mouth to respond but Julia cowed her with her next statement: "By your own logic, you and Spiderman should know exactly what is going to happen because you're from the future, right?"

"Enough." The voice wasn't Amanda's. Not really. Augmented by magic, her voice was deeper and carried further than normal; none present could ignore it. Even if they could have, her power would have been obvious as she floated above them all, her body covered in a bright blue glow. Amanda was unsure if it was the discovery of yet another corpse, the fight between the spider woman and Rachel or just the tension of her life being in danger for this long that finally made her snap, but what she did know was that she was tired of all this. No matter what or how, this would end now.

A ring of silver swords suddenly manifested around Julia Carpenter. Amanda's otherworldly voice resounded once more: "Julia Carpenter, may the Maker have mercy on your soul." A flick of her fingers, and the swords shot through the air, piercing the woman's body on their end. As Julia's body hit the ground, the swords, having finished their grisly work, dissipated again. Soon Spider-Woman would be dead. As the magic left her, Amanda too fell to the ground. Without the energies that had suffused her and made her so confident and bold moments earlier, her doubts and fears began to return. Seeing Julia twitching in her death throes, she could only wonder what had possessed her. What had she done?

"NO!" Julia cried out as the ghostly swords ripped at her flesh. Then, only then, as her physical form died, her mental powers took hold. She saw the future for the last time: Fanboy and the killer laughing at her death, and the inevitable, even more grisly death of Amanda Sefton. Julia saw her daughter crying, wondering why her mother had abandoned her. Julia's heart broke when she understood that Rachel would never know her mother's fate.

"You fool... You've doomed us both... I am innocent... The killer is..."

The light faded from Julia's eyes.

The wanna be Madame Web was dead. Killed by the second rate sorceress. The killer didn’t even have to lift a finger. They were offing one another lately and it was glorious. It was down to three and now was the time to end it all. With a cackle of glee Fanboy bounced in his seat, giddy in anticipation of what was about to happen. Those that tried to take the place of his favorite vintage heroes were about to be no more. It was a short victory as there were more to dispatch, but even a short small victory was a victory. Better to revel in his glee while he could. This had been a close one. If one more had turned their gaze towards his killer it would have been over and they might have all gotten away.

On the field it was chaos. With Julia dead, the others began to panic. Not taking a chance, Kubark took off at high speed. It was beyond time to escape the madness. Not even a thought was spared to his teacher at this point as he just wanted to escape. Luckily for him Fanboy was no Arcade, and while the basic security was on to keep the combatants from escaping, it wasn’t all working properly. Damage from the last time it was used was still there, not fixed as really Fanboy didn’t understand most of the controls. His pet killer had been helpful there but not fully. So it was surprising when Kubark managed to smash through the hologram at the top and through the dome, entering into the night sky above. He was free. An escape hatch had been found. Shooting into the sky, he never once looked back. Earth was proving to be far more dangerous than it should have been.

It was not to be. As Fanboy giggled in glee, it began. As Spider-Man turned to speak to the two remaining he found blood gushing from Magik’s throat, her throat sliced through to the point where it was surprising her head hadn’t come off. As the woman fell to the side gasping and chocking on blood, her killer strode forward. The red of the blood matched the outfit Rachel now wore, that of a hound. The right poking at prodding at her mind had brought the old persona out, making it easy to send her on her way to kill people. Each time a new batch had arrived, Fanboy made sure to seed Rachel into the game. Letting her tear through the people or watch them tear through one another. There had been a few close calls, but she had always come through. This was the closest call of them all as they had almost discovered her. Had all their eyes turned to her at the end it would have been over. There was a bit of disappointment in the boy’s mind, as he thought it might have been interesting to see what they would have done had they figured out it was her. Perhaps next time.

Spider-Man sprang into action but it didn’t matter. The man from 2099 felt his entire mind unravel; pulled apart thread by thread until only a drooling mess of a human being was left slumped upon the ground. She didn’t even bother to kill him as it meant nothing. There was nothing left in his mind except a little kernel of his being, trapped in a body and mind that would never work more than to keep his body functioning until the inevitable end. That was agony all on its own.

Still cackling, Fanboy appeared beside his hound.

“What about the alien?” she asked.

“Let him be. Perhaps he’s not just a knock off of his father. Or oooh next time we bring him in and try to get him to kill others! Oh the fun we shall have. Come let us find the next batch!”

“Yes master.”

Together Fanboy and hound stepped past the bloodied bodies of the fallen, looking for the next batch of knock-off heroes and villains to play with. All in the name of keeping the original vintage characters at the top. It was good to be a fan.

Quick and Dead: Kid Gladiator

Note: There you have it, Fanboy and his hound came out on top in the end. This was a close one for the killer. Right before the paranoia kill Rachel had 14 votes, thanks to one of the perks used last round that stripped Kid Gladiator of his votes and applied them to Rachel, who was heavily suspected various times in the game. Kubark escaped as the escape hatch perk given to Quick and Dead was invoked so the son of Gladiator got to live to fight another day. Or maybe Fanboy went after him right away…we’ll never know.

There weren't any hints or such this game, it was just pure basic Betrayal Game, I honestly didn’t even remember about hints being dropped sometimes until we were into like round three, it’s been awhile since I’ve hosted lol. I hope, even with the gaps in rounds because of internet issues I had, that this was fun and has sparked the BG’s back to life. Can’t wait to see what is next!
