There's a little less than 12 hours left to post. At 8 PM (EST), posting is closed, and the 12 hour window to vote for best post will open. Round 3 will be up around 830/900 AM (EST) tomorrow Friday September 6.

Mastermind/Broo - Amora will possibly forgive your error in song, however your continuity errors will be retconned in Round 3. Please do pay attention, Broodling.

I'm VERY EXCITED for this round! I thought it would be extra fun to see how two people collaborate in one post!

With that in mind, the votes for best post this round will go to the TEAM with the best song.

I'm hoping everyone's duets are coming along nicely. Can't wait to read them!! Just over 20 hours to get it posted. This round should prove interesting with some players close to reveal and the PK still active.

She's glorious. People only accuse her of murder because of her sexy dance moves.

If you have not posted in 5 hours (9 AM EST), I will be forced to make something up for you and move on with the game. Please do hurry.

As punishment, after hearing the circumstances of tardiness, only ONE of Broo's votes will be accepted (the public one posted here). Martinique will not get any votes this round.

Psylocke & Jubilee - Please send your PMed votes for immunity to me in the next few hours, so that I may make the next post by (hopefully) 1 PM EST.QDLux292013-09-13 08:05:44

Post by QDLux29 » 17 Sep 2013, 01:33

I was really scared to host my first Betrayal Game, and really first RPG. I’d played some Warhammer in college, and I think I tried D&D once when I was younger. Needless to say I didn’t have much experience as far as hosting anything like this before. Also, taking on the task of all the bonuses and the songs my first time was a huge undertaking, but I am VERY much impressed with the level of creativity, talent, characterization, and enthusiasm the players seemed to bring to the game. I hope I laid out enough clues as to not be unfair to the other players, but in playing these I always miss the clues until I go back and reread after the game is over.

ROUND 1 - Showtunes: Chicago/Cell Block Tango – 2 Shots to the head, Poison, Stabbed 10 times, Shot in the spread Eagle, Strangled

I thought for sure someone was going to pick the Stepford Cuckoos and make them a girl group, but I was glad when no one did so I could use the Cell Block Tango as the first kill.

CLUE: Mercy – Kwannon/Guanyin is the bodhisattva associated with compassion/mercy in East Asian Buddhism

The word mercy (or a derivative of it) was used twice, but I wanted to set up the game and not give away too much, as there is a lot of really easy stuff I could have used to point to Psylocke.

RED HERRING: 17. I know that a lot of hosts use numbers, including issue numbers and such, to point to the killer. I deliberately used the number 17 to throw people off, and also reference the song Cell Block Tango, as during Velma's part of the song she mentions her acrobatic routine, including "Number 17: the Spread Eagle", which she finds her husband and sister doing later, and shoots them.

ROUND 2 - Last 5 Years Pop: Lady Gaga/Monster (ate my heart, ate my brain) – CUT OUT HEART & BRAIN

Though a lesser known Gaga song, I figured there were enough players who were fans that they would get this. Sorry for those who didn’t! A few guesses came in incorrectly, though some of them could have fit, like Ke$ha’s Cannibal

CLUE: Compassion – Kwannon/Guanyin (word used twice)

CLUE: Death herself – Psylocke is Death VIII (this also pointed to Hela, obvs)

CLUE: Sets of Eyes/Cameras – Psylocke has had 3 pairs of eyes (Original, Mojo’s Cameras, Kwannon’s), Red Herring: Watcher

Unintentional clue: A Chorus Line “God I Hope I Get It” – 1976 to West End; 1976 Psylocke’s UK debut

I actually hadn’t intended on using this as a clue, and it was a last minute addition to the post, but when I did a little research afterwards on the show, I realized it made it’s West End (aka London’s Theatre community like NYC’s Broadway) debut in 1976, the same year Psylocke debuted in comics. It gave me the inspiration to use the songs I used in my posts as clues.

RED HERRING: Eaten organs – Jubilee & Broo (obviously this worked ;) )

ROUND 3 - Rock: Bon Jovi/Love a Bad Name – SHOT THROUGH THE HEART

The Bon Jovi song was the easiest for me to pick when deciding on songs, and it was apparently the easiest and fastest one to guess. By far the most responses were for this one – all correct.

CLUE: The Eagles’ “Hotel California” – Released December 1976, Captain Britain #8 Psylocke’s 1st appearance

CLUE: Mercy (same)

CLUE: Christina Aguilera's "GLAM" – Psylocke was a model / RED HERRING: Callisto was a model

CLUE: Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs Robinson” – song from the movie The Graduate – main character Benjamin Braddock - Elizabeth BRADDOCK is Psylocke

Votes started pouring in for Psylocke, so I thought maybe I over did it with the clues this round

ROUND 4 – Duets: Jordin Sparks & Chris Brown/No Air – SUFFOCATION

Again, all the guesses sent in were correct, but that SixHours was just quick on the PM

CLUE: The Bangles’ “Walk Like an Egyptian” – Released 1986 – Psylocke’s US Debut New Mutants Annual #2

ROUND 5 – Divas of the 80s & 90s: Gloria Estefan/Rhythm is Gonna Get You – BEATEN TO DEATH

CLUE: Barbra Streisand & Kris Kristofferson “Evergreen” – 1976 – Psylocke’s first appearance

CLUE: Mercy/Compassion (same)

CLUE: Eyes (same)

I repeated a lot of clues to tie them into the previous posts, which I’m sure worked as a lot of votes for Psylocke started coming in.

Should the game continued, future themes/deaths would have included:

R&B: Roberta Flack/Killing Me Softly (with his song) – SONIC NUERAL DISRUPTOR

Leona Lewis/Bleeding Love – KEEP BLEEDING

Scissor Sisters/I Can’t Decide – HEART HARD & COLD & PETRIFIED; Thrown in a Lake, Poison Birthday Cake, Buried Alive

60s: Nancy Sinatra/Bang Bang – 2 GUNSHOT WOUNDS

British Pop: Victoria Beckham/Let Your Head Go – DECAPITATION

I hope everyone enjoyed the game, and liked the little nod to Savant’s amazing HUSH game’s continuity (which also wasn’t really planned, it just happened). Also, I had to throw in a plug for the current show I'm in EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL with that last musical number. Zombie armies attacking just calls for a little music, am I right?

Also, shout out to SixHours for the amazing pics that he made for this game, including the album cover for the Lady Killers QDLux292013-09-17 01:50:45

Perhaps I'm biased because I was the killer, but I thought that game was soooo much fun! It was probably the most intensive one I've played in terms of effort, but I thought it paid off. The posts were a lot of fun to write, and even more fun to read. My all-time favorite BG round I've ever participated in must've been the Duets round from this game. That was a blast. Going after Kipe (Uatu) in the second round was a huge strategic error on my part, and I almost immediately regretted the decision. Kipe has this uncanny ability to hone in on the killer and keep throwing votes at him or her until the game is lost. I decided to nip this problem in the bud early in the game once he set his sights on me, but I don't think it worked, as the votes started pouring in for Psylocke right after that.RingOtaku, I hate you for killing me, but well played. I would have used the PK on Psylocke if I had been you as well, which is why I desperately tried to incriminate Savant in my final post. Thanks for playing, everyone! This was a lot of fun.
