Okay, so QnD received my PM, but he hasn't responded so I'm going to go ahead with my game, and if he comes back to me and would rather go first, we can sort things out.

If I'm forgiven for my shambolic attempt at a previous game, I'd like to add my name to the bottom of that list.

The title is: "B.E.Y.O.N.D H.A.T.E: DIRK'S REVENGE!"

.....wanders over....

Oh Hey,.. I just came to pay my respects....

So, are these games absolutely done and dusted ( no small thing I think you guys kept them going for a good couple of years)...

or is there a small flickering ember of life still clinging to this game...

Well while some individual games have been running less than stellar (I plead the filth), I personally still see great potential in this game. Would hate seeing it die.

God, I hope not. hotknives hasn't logged in in the past 12 days. I don't know if he intends to wrap his game up or play it to its end. But as long as the BG's are around I'll play 'em

hotknives is currently in the United States on vacation. He returns home next week but I believe he's moving right when he gets back. Anyway, give him a chance to log on and decide what to do before you guys make any decisions.

Just to clarify, I didn't make my comment to force a wriggle-on on anyone's specific game.

Just making a statement about the hopeful prolonged life of the game itself

Thanks Six - and Mastermind, don't worry - I know you were just making a general comment!

Quite happy to move on from my game - it died a death in the last few rounds i'm afraid, and I don't see much point in rebooting it now we've all moved on.

Might be time for someone to start up a new game?

Sadly I don't have the time right now to commit to a Betrayal Game.

I was thinking I could maybe host a Resistance game, since that's easier, but I don't know if people would be interested?

A Resistance game is similar to a BG in that you need to discover the bad apples in your group, but it's run in a wholly different way.

As a player, you're either a rebel or an enemy spy. The rebels need to work together to complete missions in their battle against the oppressive government, and identify the enemy within.

Each round a leader is appointed who, after discussion, puts together a team to attempt that round's mission. The number of team members needed depends on the mission, and the leader may or may not include himself on the team. Everyone can then vote in secret on whether they agree with the proposed team or not (majority rules).

If the team is rejected a new leader is appointed and the process is repeated. This continues until a team is approved or the fifth attempt fails, in which case the spies win on the spot.

If the team is accepted, the chosen members secretly vote for either success or failure of the mission. A rebel will always vote for success, while a spie can opt to either fail the mission or vote like a rebel. Once everyone has voted the results are made public and the next round begins. The rebels win the game if they successfully complete three missions, while the spies win once they have sabotaged three missions (i.e. games last up to five rounds).

There are a lot of extra rules and roles to spice things up, but this is the basic game.

Compared to a BG there is no player elimination and a predetermined maximum game length. All players remain in the game until it ends and it's clear when that will happen. Because of that, and because of the way the voting works, player interaction becomes more important as you need to actively work together to keep the spies off the teams.
