Sergei Kravinoff was a prolific hunter who dedicated his life to hunting the greatest predators around the globe, in his quest to prove that man was the greatest predator of all. During a hunt in the far northern reaches of Canada, Sergei stalked a massive polar bear for days the largest he had ever seen. The creature was elusive and seemed to magically disappear from his clutches every time her got close. Eventually though, the bear's luck ran out and the hunter tracked the beast to an ice cave. The reason he had finally caught up? The bear was in labour! Sergei seized the opportunity to kill the beast.

Unknown to Sergei, the bear was in fact the goddess Nelvanna, who had taken mortal form to birth her child. A shaman had also been tracking Nelvanna, and when he came across the scene he was shocked to find his goddess dead and her unborn child's life draining away. Desperate to save the child, the shaman bound it to the hunter. The shaman hoped the innocent of the demi goddess within Sergei would bring out the good in him, so he could guide him to his new destiny. Unfortunately the hunter's bloodlust was too strong. He escaped the shaman, and with his new found ability to transform into the various creature of the North, he could would become the greatest hunter known to man.

Eventually, news would reach him in the north of the increasing prevalence of a new dangerous game, superhumans. With the highest average of superhumans appearing in New York, Sergei was determined to hunt himself the most dangerous game...

Eros N‘Jadaka is an Eternal from Wakanda, an ancient race of highly developed human offsprings. They all share the same basic powers, enhanced physical attributes and a gifted intuition for technology.

Every five years, a handful of Eternals undergo a test to see if they are fit for a position at the royal court. They need to find the very rare Celestial Herb, which grows randomly throughout Wakanda every five years.

Eros was one of two Eternals who didn’t turn mad by eating the Celestial Herb, and they were granted cosmic awareness and the fighter spirit of the Cosmic Lynx.

Being a superb fighter in Wakanda‘s Gann Milaje, Eros quickly rose to the rank of a personal guard for the Wakanda Uni-Mind, the collected embodiment of Wakanda‘s top scientists, artists and warriors.

Donald Pierce is a high-class society man, invited to every party, admired by men and loved by women. He is always in demand and always the talk of the town. But then suddenly something new begins emerging: people with extraordinary gifts called mutants. Suddenly these exotic people are all the rage. With their telepathic parlor tricks and laser beam light shows everyone adores these mutants and has no time anymore for Donald Pierce. He is no longer getting invitations to host events. Guests to his yacht parties just ask what mutants will be attending. A damn beast-man is on this month's Vanity Fair cover for f*$#s sake!

Pierce looks into biological enhancements that could perhaps give him some of these fancy powers. However he soon realizes that he would need to make himself a new body and that it would take years to grow it. He pours all of his vast fortune into making a special facility in which time flows differently than outside. In this World he has made he is able to rapidly grow to age physical bodies that he can download his own mind into when they come of age. Not only can he have powers just like these mutants, he is able to swap into new ones with each changing of the season! Are fire powers what are hot right now? Have a new clone rapidly aged and ready for the Met Gala! Are ice powers suddenly what is cool among those in the know? Donald Pierce will be showing his off at the Monaco Grand Prix afterparty! Perhaps feats of superstrength are all the rage? A visit to the World and Pierce will be lifting the entire cast of this year's winner at Cannes! Get out of the way boring mutants with their one-note stale power, it is time for Pierce to once again be in the spotlight! For he adds something Extra to his Fashion -- he is the Fashionex!

Nightcrawler (mutant) + Daredevil (meta) = Blind Faith (cleric)

Matthäus Wagner was raised in an orphange run by catholic nuns in Bavaria, Germany. He never knew his parents, just what the nuns had told him about them. Apparently he was the result of a noble woman having an affair with a foreigner passing through, someone whom the locals described as a "handsome devil". There was no denying that Matthäus was his son. With his pitch-black hair and darker skin tone, he looked a little bit like he was from the Middle East if not for his eyes, which were of an unusual light amber, almost yellow color, just like his father's. Apparently the noble woman resented the boy, because his existence made her affair public, so she abandoned him and left the village in a hurry, never to be seen again.

Growing up in the orphanage, young Matthäus learned all about God and the bible and he came to believe that everything that happened was part of God's bigger plan. He fully devoted himself to his faith and to helping people, so it was no surprise when he decided to become a priest. During his training, though, he discovered some hidden inner power. Keeping his eyes closed during the long hours of praying and meditating, he suddenly found his other senses increasing. Hearing, smells, touch, his sense of balance, they all worked much better.... it was almsot like he had a in-built radar. With his eyes closed, he still could picture the entire room around him and gracefully move through it, even doing acrobatics that he wouldn't dare to do with his eyes open.

Further testing his abilities, Matthäus discovered that the longer he kept his eyes shut, the better his senses worked. After "meditating" for an hour, he could tell if someone was a sinner by listening to their heartbeat, after "praying" half a day, he could not only sense someone's illnesses with a mere touch, but he also knew which pressure points to use, to make that person instantly feel better. And if he spent at least an entire day with his eyes closed, he found that he could relieve someone of all their pain and suffering, and even exorcise demoic influences or break witch curses, by picturing the bad stuff and "sending it elsewhere".

Now a fully ordained priest, Father Matthew is running a church in New York's Hells Kitchen in the daytime. But at night, he patrols the city as "Blind Faith", protecting the innocent from the many sinners out there. He always is looking for the least violent solution, and his weapons of choice are a mace, a metal cross and a few bottles of holy water. Sometimes he fears that his powers might be demonic in nature, so he is still looking for answers about his father ...

I must admit. This is my first draft and trying to create an interconnected story that makes sense is ... intense.
This time. Jazzkantine tot Eros who I envisioned somewhere down the road to take part in New Orleans adventure.

Anyhow... here we go.

Lonnie Thompson Fisk began his life as a poor child in New Orleans. He started out as troubled youth, who was bullied by his peers, not only because he was Orleans' only African-American albino, but also because of his obesity. Frustrated and angry he began training himself in physical combat. Now taller and stronger than the other children, he became a school bully, extorting protection money from his classmates and intimidating the bullies into joining his gang.

It did not take long before he attracted the attention of the Assassins Guild of New Orleans, a band of superhuman criminals in New Orleans and main rivals to the Thieves Guild. Marius Boudreaux sent his daughter Belladonna to investigate the curious case of Lonnie Fisk.

In the meantime Lonnie allowed his personal demons to direct the course of his life and he turned to a life of serious crime. As a hitman and enforcer, he used his albinism and obese pusture to his advantage. He filed his teeth and nails to points, giving him the appearance of a vampire. This frequently caught his opponents off-guard, making it easier to kill them. He also lifted weights and engaged in many street fights to hone his fighting skills. One night, Lonkie was approaches by Belladonna, who invited him to become a powerful enforcer.

Eventually, Lonnie Fisk killed his boss and took control of the assassin's empire, becoming one of the most powerful figures in New Orlean's underworld.

No worries, you're doing great. Besides, you don't have to create an interconnected story. Warp drafts are mainly about the fun of merging two other characters into something new. AFAIK, this is the fourth Warp Draft overall, but only my second one, and the first time around, I didn't even bother to do a theme or connected story. In that draft, I just focused on creating intresting mergers along with visual designs for them. Everyone has a slightly different focus, some want to create a book that would actually sell, others hone their art & design skills, yet other are going for homages or humorous attempts, and some hone their writing skills.

A lovely and talented person on DeviantArt had the same idea as me so I borrowed their design.

Meet Wolverthing

Image

James Grimm was born in Canada a long time ago. He doesn't remember most of his past but he did join the air force and fly in World War II. He was shot down many times but always seemed to survive in seemingly impossible ways. This earned him the call sign Wolverine for his scrappiness and short stature. During the war he met his best friend Charles Richards. This genius eventually recruited James to fly his experimental space ship that turned the already fast healing James into a man of stone. Charles gained the ability to stretch his intellect to the point that he could read minds. Along with Charles fiance and her kid brother, they became the X-Four and James was renamed Wolverthing.

Wolverthing became very iconic and beloved in the burgeoning super-hero community. In addition to his time with the X-Four, he was also splitting his time with the Defendgers and constantly teaming up with the other heroes on their adventures. Nobody knows how Wolverthing finds so much time to be in so many places each month but he always carves out time to hold his regular Poker games in some of the seediest bars imaginable.

Don't forget. There are 14 other player creations that you can build your lore off of. Like White Magik and D.I.V.A.S. We all love that stuff.

Are we meant to be building a common canon between all players, a lore specific to our own draft, or anything in between?

I know last time there was some common world building, but wasn't sure what was in the 'rules' (some ideas of mine seem to already conflict with some completed warps' descriptions if not actual choices).

Elisabeth Braddock (Mutants) & Dr. Voodoo (Mystics) = Jericho Braddock / Etherlock

Jericho Braddock is the descendant of former British and French colonists on Haiti.
His father was a British ambassador, and his mother a Caribbean born shaman.

Having lost his parents in a gang war, Jericho ventured throughout the Caribbean islands for learning the ancient art of voodoo and fighting techniques from various tribes that still live apart from modern civilization.

One night, when Jericho was preparing for his final challenge against some of the tribe‘s best fighters, an elder shaman gave him the Milk of the Butterfly to drink, a drink with unknown ingredients.

When Jericho fought near tirelessly against the men, he suddenly felt an explosion in his head. He started to hear hundreds of voices at the same time, felt dozens of emotions, and saw in the minds of everyone around him. Screaming in pain, Jericho released a psionic shockwave, knocking everyone out in his vicinity.

His parents appeared in front of him. Their souls called forward by his shamanic abilities and reconstructed as images by his newly awakened psy powers, they told him that he has to find his long lost brother, Daniel Braddock, as he is about to destroy the barrier between reality and astral plane.

There's nothing in the rules about necessarily sharing a world. It's fun to stick everybody together if it works, though.

Spectrum (Metas)
Pixie (Mutants)

Monica Gwynn - Wayfarer

As a child and teen, Monica Gwynn was severely mobbed and beaten by her classmates, and Her parents were beatniks, not able to deal with such problems, they moved multiple times over the years.

By the age of 16, Monica already had multiple broken bones and fractures. Having lost all hope, Monica stepped on the roof and starred lifeless into the night, hoping for a salvation. She closed her eyes and felt weightlessly for moments.

She opened her eyes and she was floating a few feet above the rooftop. Her body coated in pulsating different colors and emitting a soothing and calming dust.

When Monica became a police officer, she used her powers to help those in desperate situations. At nights, she flies all around the world, high up in the sky and while shining bright as a star in the sky, she releases her dust for everyone in despair, fright, and loneliness to feel salvation at least for some hours.

Whilst expansionist, the Kree were at an evolutionary dead-end, limiting their intergalactic colonial endeavours.

Led by rational thinking and the continue focus on the absorbtion of millennia's of the Kree's top scientists, it was only after yet another conquest of Earth, a planet many hundreds of years behind the Kree on scientific terms, was foiled that <REDACTED> recognised what may be behind their race's failures - a distinct lack of divine faith. The spiritual power of the Terrans' prayers to a multitude of Gods seemed to actually create personalisations of these "myths", all far more powerful than the Earthling's genetic potential would suggest.

<REDACTED> established Project GodForce, inspired by the Terran Pantheons, to rekindle the faith of the Kree, in the aims of one day giving birth to their own deities with enormous potential and ending their genetic dead-end. To start the project, <REDACTED> entrusted leading Kree biologist Brunn-Erva to experiment on any Terran "Gods" they could retrieve with the ambition to graft the abilities of them onto Kree volunteers.

Brunn-Evra saw the chance to raise from a Doctor, a rank dismissed in the militaristic Kree society, to a leading role in the GodForce by volunteering herself as a guinea pig for the generic tampering, giving her the advanced strength, stamina and a death sense using an Asgardian warrior woman as her genetic template.

Becoming the Valkree, the Angel of Death of the Kree, Brunn-Erva supports Kree invasion forces under the instruction of <REDACTED>, inspiring those most in need of faith, in addition to collecting fallen soldiers for "Val-Hala" a secret genetics lab about her personal cruiser, the Aragorn. The Valkree's intent for the slain warriors of the Kree are unclear, but with a drive for new Gods for the Kree, it maybe that these may be reborn into the new Kree pantheon.

Btw EphX, is it possible to give a quick scan cross-off of the character list to remove the picked characters, as it'd been a few picks between the last update, and it was difficult to tell who was still remaining?

Darnell Wade was a member of a street level teen team of heroes, who realised from an early age that they were different from the rest of their team— not just that they could manipulate Darkforce energies, or that they originally thought they were a homosexual male , but that they just didn’t QUITE feel right presenting as male or as female.

Then the Dark Event happened. Darnell’s team tried to make a name for themselves, taking on a villain who was far too highly powered for them, and it was a massacre beyond anything they could have imagined. Darnell tried to run via the Darkforce, but was caught in an explosion that mangled most of their torso. They shouldn’t have survived, but the Darkforce works in mysterious ways...

Waking several months later, Darnell realised that their pulverised body had been reassembled using tech that had been salvaged from one of Gil Richard’s jaunts to the present day, known as Deathloks— the engineer who has saved Darnell’s life referred to them as a “Deathlok-ette”, having assumed they were female based on the tattered remains of clothing they’d found on Darnell and the wig that had remained squarely in place (thank god for Roxxxy Andrews’ super strength wig glue).

Seeing what had become of their body and that they could now manipulate their cyborg form to appear as masculine, feminine, or somewhere in-between, all that was left was to figure out the extent of their new powers and to give themselves a new name— feeling that neither Deathlocket nor Shade/Darkveil truly fit them anymore, Darnell simply chose to go by Shade-Lock, their natural affinity for Darkforce energy now bolstered by being a one-person robotic army.

Choosing to leave the lab in which they’d been resurrected, Darnell was horrified to discover that they were now a decade in the future, as opposed to simply a few months as they had thought— Fashionex would surely love to know who’s stolen some of his time manipulation technology...

Deathlocket (Mortals and Machines) X Darkveil/Shade (Entropy) = Shade-Lock (they/them)

Rachel Summers (Mutants) + Angela (Mystics) = Hraesvelgr

Aldrif Odinsdottir was born of the clandestine union of Odin of the Aesir, and Sinmara, an Eldjötnar -- fire giantess of the Muspelheim, the realm of fire. A child conceived of this union would bring nothing but disaster as predicted by the Norns. A child with the blood of the Aesir and the body of a fire giant would give Surtur the keys to the shining city of Asgard itself. Even so, despite Odin's raging, the child was born, hatched from a fiery egg.

Odin, in retaliation for this girl being born, rained death upon Muspelheim in the form of a great thunderhead.
In desperation, Sinmara's handmaiden spirited the girl away, replacing her with a stillborn child from one of the war clans. Odin was sated, and the baby found her way to Midgard, where she was christened Rachel and lived among the seafaring Grey clan. Rachel of the Greys grew to womanhood on exploratory vessels, quite hidden among mortals, until a rival clan attacked their longboats with flaming arrows. Rachel's rage exploded from within her and she decimated her clan's rivals.

Of course, a display so majestic was not fit for the mortal world, and it drew the attention of both Asgard and Muspelheim.

To keep her daughter away from the murderous hands of Odin and the covetous hands of Surtur, Sinmara did the only thing she knew to do. She locked the girl in an endless cycle of death and rebirth, cursing her to a fiery death just short of her 19th birthday, yet saving her from eternal damnation by remaking her anew.

Thousands of years have passed and Rachel has been born hundreds of times. But Sinmara's magics are not everlasting. Her weakening protection has once again exposed her daughter to the Nine Realms.

Rachel Grey, born of New York, has her 20th birthday today. And hell has come calling.

Rachel of the Greys/Aldrif Odinsdottir is both Aesir and Eldjötnar with the powers of both.
