I had a mini vacation planned in March to play it. I was going to order pizza, buy some beers, and not leave my chair until I'd put a solid 20+ hours into it.

Since I actually have a camping trip scheduled for March, so I wasn't going to get off for the game. I wanted to, though.

Well, Cyberpunk just got pushed back to September, so that fixes that issue.

If anyone, like me, has the First Class edition pre-ordered then be aware Squenix is coming for your money on 02/28. Nice of them to wait until after Valentine's Day.

I got the Deluxe Edition.

Sad to think we'd be under two weeks if not for the delay!

Demo's out today. I seriously considered calling in so that I could play. The fact that the full game comes out the Friday before Easter is kind of a blessing, because I thought about scheduling the day off to play it then too.

I'm debating playing the demo still. I kinda want to just experience the game, all at once. The first time I play, I play, with no "month" gap. So yeah, I have it download, just not sure if I'm diving in.

I played it. The demo is nothing more than what you've already probably seen. There are more bits with Avalanche and you do get to fully complete the bombing run, but it amounted to a little over an hour of gameplay. Apparently, there are things in that section of the game that have been deliberately left out, so even during that first mission, there's going to be new stuff to uncover once the full game ships.

Oooo, interesting. Hmm, I still might hold off for experience's sake.

I cancelled my Soldier First Class edition today. I can't justify that much money for a statue that will collect dust.

Still, cannot wait to play this in a month.

Did you end up reordering? Which version did you get? I picked the physical version because I really wanted the artbook (even though I won't get Carbuncle). I actually thought about switching, but I preordered way back when the Amazon preorder discount was still a thing and am getting the deluxe edition for less than 60 bucks.

I will probably try and grab the Deluxe Edition in stores or Amazon.

Are there any exclusive deals through certain stores for this? I mean exclusive content, weapons etc. I’m not fussed with physical stuff like postcards, statues, metal sleeves etc

I've been debating this myself. I already have the deluxe physical edition pre-ordered but I'm leaning towards canceling for the digital one. My Deluxe edition cost $69, so it would cost me xtra but worth it...

So physical Deluxe Edition comes with:
- Metal Sleeve
- Art Book
- Mini-Soundtrack(Not sure whats mini about it)
- Final Fantasy 7 PS Theme(All Pre-Orders get this)
- In Game Content: Cactuar DLC Summon and Chocobo Chick(Pre-Orders all get this). Not sure how I feel about DLC summons btw..

The Digital Content wold probably be more your jam
- Final Fantasy 7 PS THeme
- Can PLay the Game Right at Midnight release day
- In Game Content: Carbuncle DLC Summon,(ONLY IN DIGITAL AND FIRST CLASS) Cactuar DLC Summon and Chocobo Chick(Pre-Orders all get this).

- SO yeah I'm leaning towards the extra summon and playing the game right away. Realistically I'd look at the art book once, and it concerns me that they say 'mini' soundtrack. REally, I just like the thought of having the physical disc.

Gamestop has a Shinra ID Card sweepstakes. Other than that, the PSN version has a free theme, I think. I got the Tifa one from the Butterfinger sweepstakes and it's so nice. She sways as she sits on top of the water tower while her theme plays softly.

Oh, so it says that Square Enix store gets a lanyard and a chance to win a watch. Walmart gets art cards. Best Buy gets $10 store credit. Amazon gets a Sephiroth theme (yay!).

By the way, the Butterfinger thing is still ongoing in the US. Basically, for every two you buy, you get a reward. It's a couple of special bangles, a belt, and a crystal accessory for your characters. You also get the aforementioned Tifa theme.

https://butterfingerff7r.com/

Basically you take a photo of your receipt and send it in.

Here's the theme:

EDIT: Oh, even if you don't want to play the demo, if you download and install it, you'll get another theme on the day of release. This one:

I got th Tifa theme. So by the time this game comes I'll have four FF7 themes(Tifa, Pre-Order, Demo/Day of Theme, and an old one that shows the back of Cloud and plays Aertih's theme).

So has anyone tried the demo? I still haven't but I wonder what people who have think of the battle system?

I've played through it three times. The first time through, I thought the battle system was a bit much to keep track of. By the second, I was fine. It is definitely fast paced but the party AI is still kinda dumb when it's controlling Barrett (I think it was stated that this demo was from September and things have changed). AI Cloud seems to do just fine but I often saw AI Barrett just standing there or walking away from a fight (and not really gaining much ATB). I've ended up wasting attacks aiming at nothing when I try to quickly switch back and forth between them, because Barrett has his back to the fight for some reason. Hopefully that got ironed out.

Well that's a tad concerning. I guess I'll be switching back and forth as much as I naturally can because it's most important to me that the party feels lke a party, and not like Cloud's back-up.

Don't get me wrong, it only happened a couple of times and overall I still really loved the way combat felt. It was just the one nitpick I could find.

Squenix has started shipping out copies of FF7R so some of y'all will get to play it before those of us in America. No spoilers!
