Still a travesty
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

It's not the worst movie I've seen. Hardy absolutely carried it with his comedic ability.

If the critics are to be believed, this is pretty mediocre. Currently has a 65%.

I can't remember; didn't many of them also pan the first movie? There's a disconnect between critics and movie-goes, especially when it comes to genre fans. Being a horror nerd, I can attest. If a horror movie gets anything above a B-, it's either incredibly pretentious or I'm about to get my socks blown off. 50/50 chance.

Venom is sitting at a comfortable 30% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It got savaged by the critics but much more warmly appreciated by moviegoers and did pretty good business all things considered.

Still almost a fortnight before this is released in the UK.

I liked this, it was fun and short, so no time wasted.

I also enjoyed it, the relationship between the symbiote and Eddie makes the Venom movies unlike any other Marvel movie (either in the MCU or through other studios) and the film is at its best when playing off that double act.

It's not particularly deep but some interesting fun, the idea that Shriek had powers directly referenced as a mutation is interesting for the future.

Didn't know Stephen Graham was in this, which given he is everywhere at the moment, shouldn't have been too much of a surprise.
Spoiler: show

I'd actually have liked to have seen a bit more...carnage from Carnage. Whilst the prison scene was fairly brutal I'd have preferred a bit more of him really letting lose. Kasady is terrifying in that he shows the worst depravity possible and then the symbiote ramps up that danger infinitely. I wanted a bit more of the unrepentant serial killer.

Toxin in the future?

And that ending? Does this mean Eddie's symbiote is the same one that encountered Spider-Man (Maguire?) given the references to other universes before the flash sideways into the MCU?

Lovely little tribute to Stan Lee in Mrs Chen's convenience store magazine rack

Also, Scroobius Pip as a Ravencroft inmate was a bit random

Watched this tonight. It was fun! Basically a lot of the good things about the first are repeated here. You could really FEEL that PG-13 rating though when you've got so many dead bodies and not a drop of blood to be seen outside of a single scene. Feels weird to tease Toxin and then the mid-credits scene though.

...I mean when you've got the money to waste on El Muerte then I guess you can do a third Venom. I imagine Toxin will be part of it.
