I think this is a property that has been rumored before to be in consideration by Sony but now we have confirmation a script has been written and it is apparently moving forward

It was apparently written by the guys who did Dracula Untold. So I guess we can expect a mediocre vampire film from this. Can't say I've ever cared for Morbius and I was hoping to see him more in a Midnight Sons capacity. We'll see how Venom and Silver and Black turn out and then I should know for sure if I can skip it.
Current Pull List
Hickman's X-men, Runaways, Champions

I liked Dracula Untold..

Morbius? Nor so much. His last book was horrible and I never found him all that interesting anyways.

With the box office success of Venom, Morbius is greenlit to begin filming in February.

What if Sony just goes straight horror with their films?

Morbius is definitely horror and Kraven could be the first superhero psychological thriller: The Most dangerous game of superheroics
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

A Last Hunt story would be great as a horror. I've not yet seen Venom but surprised it's doing well given the negative build-up.

Sony isn't smart enough for that.

Sony making a Morbius the Living Vampire (you have to sing his name like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”) movie starring nobody’s favorite Joker instead of David Dastmalchian is further proof we don’t live in the most ideal world.

Jared Leto's my favorite non-animated Joker...

Yeah, I don't remember much about Cesar Romero and Jack was great, but I really liked Leto as Joker. I've always said that Ledger was a really good character, but was a terrible Joker.

Hamill was my favorite Joker and I feel like Leto was closer to the comics. The only thing I didn't like was his apparent love for Harley.

Allegedly (but i’m not convinced), a lot of the negative feedback for Venom has come from “Little Monsters” who thought that A Star Is Born was going to be overshadowed by a super hero film... not sure how much I believe that although I do know that Gaga fans are actually crazy.

Michael Keaton? Is this the most explicit tease that the MCU and Spidey cinematic universe are one and the same?

No one is really sure. There's also a poster of Game-verse Spidey in the trailer.
X-Men Generations: Rogue | X-23 | Colossus | Juggernaut | Bruiser | Blink | Scout
X-Men - Krakoa: Avalanche | Black Tom | Lila Cheney | Shadowcat | Outlaw | Blob | Puck II | Gin Genie | Dr. Nemesis | Banshee | Wolverine | Beast

It seems like such a silly move to make considering how fragile the agreement seems to be between Sony and Marvel. Why complicate things if there's risk of another split in the future? Morbius isn't going to show up in any actual MCU movies.

At the same time a Blade film opens the doors for anything close to supernatural and they might want that in their back pocket.

I consider the Sony movie-verse to be half-MCU much like Agents of SHIELD or the Netflix shows were. Things from the MCU can go there or be referenced, but it's a one-way street.
