I'd rather Chastain play Jean tbh.

You'd have to recast pretty much everyone at that point. Which, granted, isn't the worst thing because I'm really not a fan of the young Scott and Storm.

Casting call: http://goldenfeed.info/details-new-x-me ... -revealed/

"Brittney" is probably Dazzler, yeah?

Also, Simon Kinberg will be directing, and he wrote X3 and Apocalypse, so, my expectations are pretty low...

Ditto. Much more excited for New Mutants than this.

That's pretty much what I was hinting at.

Sophie Turner was pretty good (though her American accent still sounded super British), but the rest of the young cast was fairly meh imo. I pretty much want a full reboot at this point, with a deal similar to Sony and Marvel with Spidey. I'm not saying Fox has done a bad job with the X-Franchise. Deadpool and Logan have been 2 of my favorite movies hands down over the last few years. But until they reboot and make it tie in with Marvel's MCU somehow its going to feel "been-there-done-that".

But I know, they are married to JLaw, McAvoy, and Fassbender, so its not gonna happen. If it was just McAvoy and Fassbender, I'd almost be ok with it.

I love JLaw, but she has been most disappointing part of these movies since First Class. I'm pretty sure it's not 100% her as she can only read the lines she's given, but I swear she spends 90% of the movie disguised as random person instead of being a character who changed when necessary instead of constantly.

I've been a pretty big fan of Fassbender and McAvoy though.

You know I like McAvoy but I never really see him as something like Claremont's or Carey's or even Lobdell's Xavier.

I like him as young Xavier but the series is moving further towards where he should be Stewart's Xavier and he's too disimilar I feel. Stewart's version is iconic Xavier in my eyes.

Patrick Stewart has almost ruined Xavier because he was too perfect for that role. I'm not sure I want an old Xavier if he's not playing them. It's the same way I feel about JK Simmons and JJJ.

See I can deal with a new JJJ if he plays him as he evolved. JJJ of the last decade and more is different than the newspaper firebrand the Simmons portrays.

Very much agree with this. It seems like JJJ got all the best one-liners in that trilogy and Simmons pulled them off perfectly. I can't watch the Farmer's Insurance commercials without expecting to hear "I trust my barber." I think McAvoy has touched on the older Xavier somber tone before. That world-weary "I've set myself up to sheperd the future and dear god why" but doesn't have that calm soothing aura that Stewart brought. Stewart's Xavier felt like he always believed in the Dream. McAvoy feels like he was always trying to find the Dream.

Stewart may be classic Xavier, but McAvoy's Xavier is the one that would mindwipe Scott Summers into forgetting he ever had a brother.

Stewart's Xavier is the one who stole a man's body and turned it white.

And properly crippled it just because he loves that wheelchair. Makes Moira all excited.

The supporting characters after the jump feel like Hellfire to me. Redmond = Sebastian Shaw, Lucca = Emmanuel Da Costa, Jack = James Braddock/Jack Starsmore, Luna = Selene (moon references, too!). William might be Harry Leland. And of course Hiroshi screams Sunfire.

There's no way to make the whole saga in a movie without grounding it a bit. It's too big. Too epic. Even two movies would be pushing it. The original story corresponds to years of comics. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

So apparently Jessica Chastain is not playing Lilandra like the whole internet thought. She was supposedly cast as the villain. So maybe she was cast as an older, more evil Jean Grey??? A Dark Phoenix if you will...

Maybe they're swapping out Lilandra in favour of Deathbird? Lilandra has never really been a villain, even in the Dark Pheonix Saga she was more of an antagonist. Maybe they thought it better to switch to someone morr villainous?

Aparently the actress debunked the theory about her being Dark Phoenix on twitter.
