Is GotG v.2 a “Thor movie”? He’s in it.

Is Spiderman Homecoming an “Iron Man movie”? An “Avengers movie”? It’s got Iron Man, an Avenger, in it.

When you say something is an “X-Men movie,” it means it’s about the X-Men. DP2 is not about the X-Men. It’s about DP and it has some of the characters from the X-Men.

That why I think the first phase MCU films are arguable. They’re not about the whole team, but they’re setting up for the team. They’re about how the Avengers came to be first as individuals, and then how they came together.

DP is not about the X-Men as a team, or how the individuals came to form the X-Men. It’s a spin-off, not an X-Men movie.

Using "Avengers" as a franchise name and not a team name? Yes Spider-Man is. Just like how with the comics the solo titles for Iron Man and Cap would have plots that impact and weave in and out of Avengers and major Avengers stories would have cross-over tie-in issues with those solo books.

I'm gonna go on the side of DP being an X-Men movie. He references them constantly. They spend a large amount of time in the X-Mansion. DP becomes an X-Man for a second in the second one and establishes an unsanctioned splinter team "X-Force".

Even in the comics there are kind of two definitions of X-Men in regards to whether a character is actually on the team or is just often around the characters on the team. There are X-Men characters that are not X-Men and in the same way Deadpool is an X-Men movie that is not about the X-Men.

I'm seeing this comment from people recently and it makes me mildly uncomfortable. We've never been a particularly unwelcoming forum unless you're particularly hostile, and Nu-D definitely isn't hostile here. Disagreements and debates happen, but, generally, people don't feel a need to just stop posting their opinions. Even when they have an "unpopular" opinion or fall on different sides of an argument.

I disagree with Nu-D regarding Deadpool/X-Men, but I hope my argument didn't come off as hostile.

I think this how most people see it.

There’s teams and then there are franchises. Deadpool to the non-nerd thinks Deadpool is a X-film. I think only the MCU has different franchises within it’s film-verse. Everyone else is kinda 1 franchise with alot of parts.

It's an interesting one. Didn't think the responses to Nu-D have been hostile either. There does come a time when after a disagreement between posters when no new arguments are introduced than one of the disagreeing parties should bite the bullet and decide that if neither side is giving ground and the argument is being rehashed it's probably for the best to decline to continue that particular argument.

There's times when I've probably ridden the merry go round more times than I should have (probably to other's frustrations - sorry all) but also times when Ive realised it's best to just stop posting on that topic for a little while.

It's not being forced off the board or not being able to give your opinion but sometimes a debate won't get solved to everyone's individual satisfaction, and sometimes a difference of opinion will always exist but there's plenty of other topics we can butt heads on instead.

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to convey any negative judgment about the opposition to my position. I didn’t think any of the responses were hostile or unreasonable.

I was trying to convey that for some reason I was digging in my heels to defend a position I don’t care about. I was checking myself, not y’all.

It was a self-deprecating comment, not one meant to reflect on y’all.

About to say. I hate the Morrison/Whedon runs and love Kitty. If I haven't been run out of here with pitchforks and torches yet, no one is likely too.

The only way I will praise Kirby for this film is if it ends with DP using all her cosmic power to "undo" and overdoes it not only reviving friends and family but sending their spirits to the MCU.

Yeah, I can definitely see a Phoenix type proclamation that the XCU is broken and needs to be burned away but that they will live again in another universe. Do I want the X-men in the MCU, and do I think Feige and co could lead a better X-franchise? Definitely yes to both, but I'd rather kill off the current cast and recast completely than having the XCU cast move across. Give them all a fresh start to get it right and not be beholden to the series of errors that have plagued Fox's interpretation of the franchise.

Oh I never said keep the same cast. Hence my use of the term "spirit". New cast, new life, but with a subtle nod to the XCU for those who need to feel it's all connected.

Sorry for the "off-topic"... kinda of.

Well, I did it. I'm very pleased now.

I modified my timelines and inserted "LOGAN" in the Original Timeline a.k.a. Timeline Prime Alpha.

So, "Logan" is a follow-up of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", "X-Men", "X2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand". It works nicely this way.

Decades after the events of "Logan" (2029), Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) traveled back in 1912 and started altering the timeline, thus creating the "First Class Franchise" we all know and love.

Have you read my website?

Likely, "Deadpool" and "Deadpool 2" are set in an alternate universe.

Are there two Cyclopses on that poster?

I'll be going into this one with extremely low expectations after Apocalypse. At least I can look forward to Disney hopefully rebooting it and casting/setting it up right.
