I've seen a lot of praise for the trailer. I think I am the only one who is actually a little less excited for this movie after seeing it.

It is just SO MCU. And the sameness of the MCU is tiring me I guess. Like this looks like GotG 3.

I'm not saying it is going to be bad, but I'm not real excited.

Which is odd to me cause it definitely looks very different than the first two Thors, all 3 Caps and all 3 Iron Msns...it has elements of GotG but it feels even more like it' embracing the Kirbyness of it all

I can definitely understand the comparisons to GOTG and it makes me think Marvel is going for a VERY specific feeling when dealing with Cosmic Marvel.

I feel like I'm looking at a van painting or a heavy metal album cover and that's exactly the feeling I want for a spacey Thor flick. I'm super excited.

If Fenrir is in this movie I really need them to at least allude to the awkwardness.

Loki is talking to Fenrir, calls him son.
Thor looks between the two of them confused.
Loki is just like "Look, it's complicated."

Saw a good interview with Hemsworth, Ruffalo and Director Taika last night on Aussie news show The Project. Kiwi Taika (who also plays Korg) told the interviews he was inspired to give Korg the accent of an Auckland Moari nightclub bouncer. I hope its true as its a very softly spoken accent and would be hilarious on the stone giant.

The interviewers let slip a notable spoiler though :-(

Too many of the best jokes have been given away by the trailers.

I pretty much just watch the initial trailers these days. They give away basically the whole movie if you watch every teaser.

What he said...

Given that I’m unplugged to cable, I have to actively go out to find a trailer.

Saw this last night, I liked it a lot. Very different kind of movie with a strong dose of GOTG-style to it. Lots of humour, almost too much really as it undercuts some heavy moments at times.

Just got back from seeing it......SPOILERS AHOY!

It is an enjoyable movie no doubt and the comedy is very funny from top to bottom (I really like Taika Waititi...if you haven't 'what we do in the shadows' and 'Hunt for the Wilder people' stop reading now and go immediately watch them, funniest movies of the past few years.

Like Gremlin said however I thought there was too much comedy, it just threw it off tonally- moments that should have been dramatic or tense are thrown away with a joke which makes everything else feel 'light' or not a problem. It's not even Thor joking constantly or having childish fights with Hulk, that kind of works but its also like how the villains were also into the patter of joking i.e. Sutur at the beginning, it makes villains seem dumb imho.

Anyway still enjoyed it but I think it missed the mark tonally.

This was a lot of fun. The trailers got GOTG comparisons but it's even more light-hearted than those films! Like others said this can make some things that should be serious a bit off. Major spoiler ahead:
Spoiler: show
The Warriors 3 deaths were very sudden (and only Hogun actually got to do anything) and they didn't even get a stop to mourn. Even with Thor off world I feel like some character should have had reaction to their deaths. Also where was Sif?
Still I felt Hela made a memorable villain, the costumes, sets, 80s vibe were all really great and it did get a lot of laughs out of me (loved the recap of Dark World :p)

So I saw this at the weekend. Yes, tonally, it was very light. But boy was it fun. Ragnarok really embodied the 'comic' roots, and played the entire movie with the volume turned up to 11. So many just great moments throughout. Hiddleston's Loki continues to be a complete joy to watch, and the go-to bad guy for the MCU in general, but Cate Blanchette's Hela was diabolical fun. Almost every Korg line was brilliant. Can't wait to see this again. Maybe the dramatic elements weren't quite dramatic enough, but I did like the Odin in Norway scenes and cut-to on the role of Asgard.
Spoiler: show
The reference to Frog Thor had me in stitches - presuming most of the cinema didn't get this reference though as I got a lot of weird looks as I doubled up laughing
