I'm weirdly here for the whole horror genre aspect of this, I'm a fan of horror films (if they're done well) and I think The Demon Bear could make for a proper frightening cinematic experience. I just really hope they don't mess it up and screw with the characters' personalities too much although I feel like Magik is being set up to steal the show (which isn't a bad thing, I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of this being the Dani story that I think it should be)

I've been wanting a horror comic book movie since we learned Dr Strange was going to be a thing.

That is almost surely a mix up...right?

IGN is reporting it's an error. Some intern probably lost their job today.

Yeah, now there's absolutely nothing related to it on the page at all.

Wikipedia's take is that NM was re-edited to remove all references to the X-men so that it 'could' be part of the MCU (not claiming that it is but just hat it allowed for that possibility).

"Further work had been completed on the film since Disney acquired it to align the film with Boone's original vision, and test screenings with these changes had been positive. In addition to making the film more frightening, these changes included removing connections to the X-Men films. This was reportedly to give Disney's Marvel Studios the option to retroactively include the film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).[45] Sienkiewicz confirmed in December that work on the film had been taking place and that, based on a new trailer he had seen, the style of Marvel Studios appeared to have had an impact on the tone of the film.[46] At the end of the month, Boone confirmed that the latest version of the film followed his original vision, and he said that he was happy to promote it as his own film.[47]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Mutants_(film)

Maybe someone misunderstood that comment to mean it officially is? I read the reference [45] this interpretation was based on and that seems to be just a comment by the author of the article, not a quote by someone in the Disney camp. But, I suppose removing references to the X-Men does give them that option, but seems an unlikely way for the X-Men to be incorporated to introduce the New Mutants before the X-Men.

Yeh if anything that just feels like a Cover Your Ass move for Disney.

Yeah I heard that a while back. It’s not actively part of the MU right now, but edits have been done to make it do the option is there if the need arises.

Finally saw the trailer, this looks like it might actually be the first ACTUAL team movie in X-Men history. How exciting! Still lots of things I'm skeptically about(lie if Cecilia really is a bad guy...which would be really disappointing but I'm hoping she's possessed) but this has potential. I do NOT think it will be a part of the MCU, because I feel like they have a plan set out for mutants that will play out over VERY slowly over phase 4, kicking up in Wandavision and Doctor Strange and the Multi-Verse before being slowly rolled in phase 5.

This isn't Star Wars, they aren't gonna wing it(PS, I Didn't hate any of the Star Wars film so, I'm sorry for the shade but come on).

I kinda hope this film never comes out. Just so we can all tell ourselves how awesome it would have been. "Hey remember that time they almost made a New Mutants film? Man that would have been great. I can see it now."

This may have been mentioned, but I just had a thought about who Antonio Banderas' post-credits character might be.
Spoiler: show
Gideon. He was originally from Spain.

The director has said that Rahne and Dani are in a relationship in the movie.

To be honest that kinda makes sense. From what he was saying in interviews, he’s taken their psychic bond and progressed it to the next level.

I saw the trailer on tv for the first time. I guess it's actually happening. I still had my doubts, lol. I'm excited.

I really pity this movie. It has been fighting a tough fight just to come out. Just their luck that it's finally coming out in the midst of the COVID-19 spread.

A lot of people have a laundry list of complaints already. Some would be their fault but other were beyond their control. I don't think this movie will be given a fair shake. That's part of the reason I pity it really.

It's a shame. I actually would've like to see the trilogy that was originally planed. Illyana's story is really good and this was probably it's only chance for a cinematic release.

I took up comics in the 80s, so I've always had a soft spot for this team. I'll definitely be there opening weekend, even if I have to wear full hazmat to do it.

Once again it wasn't their fault but this movie does indeed look cursed. Maybe they should go with that for their marketing campaign.

Honestly, that would be a GENIUS marketing campaign to get Millenials and Gen Z to see the movie,

I'm shocked tho. They pushed back Mulan, this, and are holding off on Black Widow for now but may push that back too. A Quiet Place 2 and some other films I don't remember also got pushed back, so basically nothing will be coming out in March or April, it looks like. I think it would've been smart to maybe release these movies for streaming platforms for like $20 for one watch or something. People would pay it and the companies would lose less money, plus we need something to do if we're all sequestered in our houses.

Every tiime I see someone mention the price of movies in their area I have to do a double take.

Then I remember I'm cheap and I go to movies between 9 - 11 AM so I don't often pay more than $6 for a movie.

So I'm tagging this a spoilers for a movie sequel that might never get made:
Spoiler: show

I love that the next film would've been set in Brazil, I love that we would've gotten Karma there, and let's be real, Magma too, but, seriously, Antonio Banderas has no business playing Roberto's black brazilian father.

Even if they would want to make a whole face reversal and made his mother black, guys, one on, he got on board after the cries for race bending, I thought he was playing Sinister, I can't believe they would be this time deaf.

Spanish... Brazilian... they're both Mexican right?

...I'm kidding, but I get the feeling that was probably the thought process.
