I’m really surprised Disney would go ahead with this. They haven’t spent any money on it (except insofar as it’s an asset that was part of the Fox acquisition, and so has some nominal value in that package). They had no creative input, all rumors indicate production was a disaster, and the property currently has a clean slate for an MCU introduction. So why would they consider publishing this? What can they possibly hope to gain, unless they think it’s going to be a hit? And what could possibly make them think it’s going to be a hit?

It doesn’t make any sense to me at all.

It's also been rumored to need massive reshoots.

Yeah, that’s what I was referring to when I said the rumors are that production has been a disaster. I couldn’t remember the details.

Well they spent no money on this and I'm betting they don't spend a lot to promote it. My guess is they spend a few million on it, send it out to the world and see what they make.

Yeah, I suppose that’s the reasoning. But it surprises me that they don’t see it as poisoning the well for future iterations of the NMU property.

The MCU obviously doesn't have plans to make its own New Mutants anytime soon.

If I remember the reshoots were to add Warlock to the film. Which... sounds like a disaster because it seemed like the film was done and it wasn't testing well if I remember accurately. It also was to add more horror to the film because that was the initial plan for it.

On the flip side, unless this movie massively overperforms I don't think they're getting that trilogy they wanted.

Ugh. “Disaster” sounds about right. “Our horror movie isn’t playing well, so let’s add bizarro sci-fi camp at the last minute. On a low budget. In an orphaned franchise. That’s been mishandled for 20 years.”

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

It's so weird that a movie that seems essentially "done" is continually pushed back. I guess Warlock isn't exactly a given and they still haven't done the reshoots for the movie. I understand somewhat considering all the stars are in various tv shows/movies so working around so many schedules is a pain.

I kind of wonder if Disney is just going to pull the plug and have Boone finish the film without reshoots and get it out there so it can be done and over with.

I want to watch it, I don't care if this bad, the cast (minus Roberto maybe) is perfect

I've been saying I'll see the film no matter how bad it is. It's arguably my one chance to see my favorite character on the big screen.

If/when it’s available to stream on a service I already pay for, I’ll watch it. Otherwise, I’ll see it on an airplane. No way I’m giving dollars to Fox for this.

(Well,I guess there’s a way if reviews are good).

I think, the chances of this making it to the big screen and not Disney + are pretty slim. Or if will be released, it will be a quick one with little promotion. Dark Phoenix bombed pretty bad..

That raises an interesting question. Does Fox get the revenue or would Disney? I assumed Disney would since they bought it and now control it.

I would expect that it’s treated the same as the rest of the franchise. Does Disney own all of the other X-men movies? If so, then I’m sure they bought both the assets and liabilities of this film.

Does Fox as an entity even exist anymore? I guess there's still the News Network. I don't see why they would get movie profits for something they sold off.

I think you’re right. Disney bought all of 20th Century Fox, and just about everything else except Fox News and I think Fox Sports.

That means they own both the assets and liabilities of this film.

I guess its too late tu push this movie, or is it pull?, back into October, if it is a horror tinged movie, but i would watch it as soon as it comes. Its interesting that there was only one trailer, but i want to see Dani, Illyana and Rahne on the big screen.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll dump it somewhere with little fanfare but any money made is more than where they're at now. The cost is sunk. Some of us will go see it -- horror buffs and more forgiving X-Nerds will go and I'm right at that cross section.

Imagine it actually being a modest hit, what would they do, the cast probably signed up for a trilogy, but they would be a part of a not existent movie universe anymore.
