Is anyone watching this on Hulu? I just saw this morning that it had dropped.

As we don't get Hulu, this drops for us in the UK on Disney+ next week.

I've never read the books but I might give this a go.

I like it thus far. It's a bit slow but the character work and acting is all great. It's a different approach then the comics. More focused on the women then on Yorick and I like that.

Yeh a little different from the comics, but it keeps the spirit of the series. I like all the main actresses, and the Yorick actor is adorably clueless.

It is telling how much we’ve changed as a nation since Yorick’s mom in the comics was an anti-abortion Democrat, while now she seems to be against online bullying/hate speech.

Yeah, she also was President there. It seems like in this version Jennifer will be more of a main character, which makes sense if she's Diane Lane.

I just recently re-watched Letterkenny, and I can't see the assistant as anyone other than the hockey player yet, ha.

I've recently watched both Letterkenny and The Expanse for the first time back to back, and it was pretty fun to see "Betty Anne" show up as a Martian marine in season 2 and then "Mary Anne" as a merc in season 4.

So I'm only 3 episodes in (I think there's 7 released so far?) and so far my reaction has been a resounding "meh." It's been interesting primarily just seeing what they've changed from the comic in terms of characters or plots - so far it seems like they've gotten the broad strokes the same, with some tweaks, like taking the focus away from Yorick and giving more time/backstory to other characters, combining Yorick's mom with the new president, and changing how the right-wing rebellion will happen. I do wonder though long term if they're going to use Alter or remove that plotline though. Wouldn't surprise me so they avoid (SPOILERS FOR COMIC)
Spoiler: show
Having the man two "big bads" be an Asian man and a Jewish woman
Unfortunately the actual show so far has been kinda boring. They haven't gotten into the main plot yet, and they've shied away from showing the more interesting repercussions of the plague, instead just showing a lot of wallowing in pity and stress. Which honestly, with today's events, I don't really need more of? Ampersand seems to be suffering from the "CGI/animals are expensive so cut him out as much as possible" drawback of TV. Overall the feeling is just a lot more grimdark than it needs to be, the comic was a lot more fun and upbeat. I also worry it's going to get bogged down in one location each season like Preacher did - I saw a good comment pointing out that both Y and Preacher are essentially "road trip" stories, but the TV shows spend a lot of time in one location to save on sets and such.

Hopefully things pick up.

The road trip part starts I think literally in episode 4 lol

I kept forgetting the show was around until someone posted in the thread. How has it been?

Well I've been enjoying it ok, but most people I talk to think it's dreary or everyone is unlikable or it's not any fun. Personally I've found it pretty thoughtful in it's portrayal of what would happen if this particular type of apocalypse were to happen. But maybe no one's in the mood for an end of the world show right now.
